Archoil AR6800 fuel treatment

I have been using Archoil products for the past year and mainly AR6800 which is a fuel system cleaner and cetane booster.

I have just had the Range Rover back from its MOT only to be told by the tester

" oh i have had to give you an advisory as i couldn't get an emission reading from the car so couldn't get a certificate"
he then said
" i tried three times and thought the smoke tester was broken until i plugged in my wifes Corsa and got a good test"

I told him about the fuel treatment i had been using and he said " bloody hell that must be good stuff as i have never had a range rover i couldn't get a smoke test from before "

If anyone is interested i use Powerenhancer.co.uk Great company and good discounts

Reads like an advert to me... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Reads perfectly fine to me ??.

Also this is not an advert.... And I have no affiliation with the company or product.

I'm just expressing my honest opinion on a product I have been using for the past year and thought I'd share with others. I was impressed that a car such as a Range Rover had no emissions on its annual MOT compared to the previous year.

Sounds something like Redex? Cannot see how any such additive could reduce your emissions that much. Can see how it could help clean gunk out of your engine/injectors, maybe add a little extra HP but not zero emissions otherwise all fuel would have that added as standard?

I can see why people might think this is an advert and it wasn't intended to come across in that way as i only wanted to share my findings with others.

My apologies if thats how this post was perceived.

I have used fuel additives for years with my race car after being advised by one of the UK's top tuners prior to having my car re-mapped and have seen massive benefits.

Last years MOT and smoke test certificates

This years MOT certificate

OK we believe you.

Apparently it is not unusual for Euro IV vehicles to not register on a smoke test and the MOT tester's guidelines allow for that.

Wondering if your 'Disco_Mikey remap' might have contributed to more efficient combustion though?

Funnily enough I just put a dose of Millers Injector cleaner through mine and the placebo effect helped to convince myself it was picking up faster yesterday. Whistle 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

It was a well known remap removed, for an Alive map. I don't think that would have made quite such a difference

And its an EU3 engine Thumbs Up

I may well look into some of this in the near future. Not for emissions, for cleaning the combustion chamber, see if it helps with glow plug removal Mad

Mike,

Archoil have various product for pre and post combustion treatments. I had a mate who had issues with his variable vane turbo and recommended the turbo cleaner for him to try. One bottle and and £15 in diesel and it sorted it out his issues. He was astonished in the results and was almost ready to shell out for a new turbo. Thumbs Up

So is the consensus that these products actually work then or are they just snake oil? Halfords even sell a pre-MOT additive!

This could well be an interesting and lengthy thread! Oddly enough, I've just ordered a ½ litre of Millers Ecomax to try an improve on the pitiful fuel consumption I'm getting in the RRS. I used the same stuff a year or so ago in my old BMW 3.0D X5, and it did seem to make a difference- 5-7% improved fuel economy, although really hard to quantify without perfect repetitive test conditions!
Anyhow, as a starting point, the RRS is returning a calculated 28.8mpg (30.7 on the onboard computer) over the last couple of thousand miles. Most of my driving is for work, so a fairly constant mix of about 70% motorway and the rest city / backroads etc. A fairly constant mpg as a benchmark.
Watch this space...

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Bali Blue

Just putting my 10 pence worth in,,, I have used this once before, I did a bit research and read a few reviews and if they are to be believed, quite a few people have used their products on high mileage engines with very good results. I think one bottle of the 6800 in a tank every 5000 miles IIRC or something similar.
I have never had cause to check emissions so can't comment on any difference it may have made, but if you have ten minutes while drinking your coffee the site makes an interesting read. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!
