United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

My current plan is to keep my TDV8 for at least another couple of years - assuming it doesn't die before then. It's at 118k miles now so will be about 150-170k by then if my commute etc. stays as now. It's with Bristol Transmissions having a new torque converter at the moment. Hopefully, along with a gearbox oil change again in 50k miles, that should keep the gearbox going.

Cost to replace it today is probably £25k. That's a lot of maintenance and diesel! Rolling with laughter

I'd like then to get a 4.4TDV8 FFRR or perhaps a D4. Rather depends on how the building work on the house goes in the next 12 months. I'm keen to keep the RRS even then as it's my first LR. I know, silly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Very wise...
So are you still saving to work your way up the property ladder too???
How far have you reached? Have you got passed a Wendy house yet?
Or are you still dreaming about that too? Laughing

I do not think you will be able to buy a RRS for 4k this time next year. Unless it is a mangled wreck. Ie a write off. Because this time next year they will still be worth more than 4k in spare parts.
By the time you have saved up for a RRS2, I think you will have gone off the idea of owning one. The time to buy one is now while residuals are low. 12 moths time when you say you think you could afford one, values will be dropping so quick, will you be coming out with the same excuses as you are now for not buying one?

Loan rates are that cheap at the moment 3.4%. Why not have your car now and finance the bit you can't afford right now, instead of saving your £500 p/m to pay off your bit of finance. Thumbs Up
Win win. You get you RRS2 now, and it will be paid off by the time you could afford one for cash.

It might stop you winging about all these people who have foolishly bought a RRS1 when they should have worked harder in life and saved up for a RRS2. Yawn

I assume you don't attend salvage auctions? I've seen pretty "mangled" 2012's go for £5800 and messed up 2006's go for £1250. I've even seen none recorded damaged 2012's go for as little as £10'800

No I don't. But I have seen some of the mangled wrecks our Asian brothers have put back on the road around West Yorkshire. Also unrecorded. They should have been crushed. Whistle

Blah blah blah, same with every marque, you're saying nothing new, cars depreciate and wrecked cars get pennies at auction. Not exactly news! Rolling Eyes 2015 RRS AB SDV6, Fuji White, Ivory
2012 RRS HSE SDV6, Sumatra Black and Ivory

Lol if you don't even know the names of the auctions then you're not a member/ trader/ dismantler so you're not getting in anyway.
