You'll have a hole for the tow bar so just need to buy a detachable tow hitch if there's not one in your boot. You won't necessarily have towing electrics fitted though.

Yes. What's more, pre-facelift electrics don't need enabling to work, while facelift ones do. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

They don't!
When you chuck it into reverse, there is a solid beep from the parking sensors.

My MY08 turns off the rear sensors when towing. Front sensors continue to work. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Bladeboy, you just want to check the trailer indicators aren't working in opposite directions to the car...I think mine did when I did that! My 2010 RRS has a silence button for the sensors Confused

Both my 2005 2.7 SE and my 2007HSE Tdv8 came ready equipped to tow except they need the wireing connected up, the rrear sensors also got disabled when the electrics for the trailer got connected up to the socket, also the TDv8 had the first generation of the trailer assist bendy line that you followed on the screen to get the tow hook right under the draw of the trailer so all you needed to do was raise the suspension to get hooked on! Now it's a bit more refined and can detect snaking or something and is called Trailer Assist. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

They were Tim! That's what prompted me to fiddle with the connection!

Have you tried blasting some compressed air into the socket when it's dry to get any road crud out that might have got lodged inside? I'm not sure how it detected that you had plugged the electrics in whther it was a sensor or a switch. Iused to have problems with m y last FFRR's trailer electrics after salt had been put on the road, but the socket for that was not as nicely integrated as the RRS/Dsico3 or 4's 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Whilst the prefacelift cars tow electrics don't need enabling to work, if you get them enabled it will have the effect of silencing the rear sensors when a trailer is plugged in. Also, it will stop the suspension from adjusting if you have to tow through mud etc.

So yes, it will work, but my advice is to have it enabled. Mine is a 2006 car
