Beat me to it Harry Wink

Yes, that's the plan. Just basic service at the dealer using the Plan, elsewhere for other stuff if I can.

Was a bit surprised the rears wore first. It's done 29k, and 19k of those were in the first year with the first owner so I guess he may have done the fronts already, just before I bought it, as they are still on 75%.

Cheers
RC

Hi RC Beware of the free service in your plan. As you said they always find a fault that needs doing,at a high price. Say No and get it checked at indie. Stratstones did a service for me,and gave me a free health check. Need front pads and disc's, around £500. Ace front ARB bushes £280. I bought pads and sensor for£35 Mintex, local garage fitted for£20 Half an hours work.Disc's did not warrant changing. I bought poly bushes £30 Indie fitted for £100 itisme

I had mine serviced on service plan (2nd year, 24k miles) on Friday, this was my list of items:
- down to 4mm of pads,
- wiper blades need changing (£75 quoted...)
- rear tyres have 6mm of tread, but have 'cuts to the cords' - it is possible, I do use around local shoot tracks sometimes(£222.30 ea quoted)

I declined all offers to remedy - to be fair, they weren't at all pushy. I'm surprised I didn't get the £80 pollen filter gag!

My actions are:
- buy pads off eBay and change myself when it gets a bit warmer
- Clean wiper blades
- get tyres checked by tyre specialist - change at c£140 ea if required

Thanks Harry, that will be the plan from now on Thumbs Up

Rob - £75 wipers blades FFS Censored ... that's more shocking than my pads!! They have some neck. I suppose they would say the need an hour to fit them too Rolling with laughter

Cheers guys,
RC

Just back from the local tyre place....no cuts found. They had two fitters inspect both rear tyres.

I'm not normally a sceptic but I am beginning to wonder if the service plan is proving a big loss leader for dealers.

And dealers wonder why people are suspicious of their services. The quickie oil change places are also notorious for upselling work that isn't needed - and sometimes not even doing the work. Plenty of opportunities for scams in the auto service business. Find a good indie you can trust.
