Great seeing a few pics of the series 1,,, I used to own one when I was (a lot) younger. As one comment said " every part could be unbolted",, no truer word spoken. Basic was an understatement but I loved it,,,, I remember driving it for a week with no starter motor fitted, as long as there was enough life in the battery to prime the electric fuel pump a half turn on the starting handle would get it going!! 2010 RRS, TDV8

My personal reg number, is off a 1950's land rover that snapped in half going through the Dartford Tunnel in the early 80's. I like to think it's good still being on successor. |

As a "toy" they are a great idea. I might get myself a Series 2a (not a "Defender Series 2"!) when we get the house finished. Just fancy one the same age as me. Bit silly, and it wouldn't get a lot of use, but a fun thing to do. Use one everyday to commute? No way! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
