There must be a secret code between dealers to "make sure you do something to annoy Muddy" Rolling with laughter it does seem to be what they do best.

I think you're right Rolling Eyes

Car jockey who picked up the loaner left a hire car here for collection and keys so I waited in all afternoon and nobody turned up - if they don't come in the morning it can stay here until after xmas now Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Merry Christmas Ady and anyone else dropping in Bow down

Been a hectic few days with family visiting so not really been used much yet

Playing with incontrol other night and it said unlocked and boot open so went out to find tailgate had opened and hit brickwork but I'm sure I didn't do it Big Cry

Had to drive to York couple of days ago and came across flooded road and was about to test the wading until recovery guy said he'd already pulled one like mine out that morning Embarassed

On couple of junctions the stop start killed the car and couldn't get any power after so missed lights and got hooted at by motorists Evil or Very Mad

Christmas eve a cat left foot and claw marks on bonnet so had to buy a cat scarer and seems to be working Rolling Eyes

Dealers refusing to pass on LR delay payment claiming trailer delivery cost more but cost was never mentioned or I would of collected

Feeling very disappointed this time and was more excited about the courtesy DS to be honest - totally let down

With Xmas, my birthday yesterday and new year I'm trying to relax and decide what to do next week Thumbs Up

Have a good new year and hope the break is going well for you Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Shocked Dear o dear Muddy.... Not so Merry Christmas then Sad Tbh, I think you had fallen out of love with this car before you took delivery Big Cry I was really hoping you would come back with this new DS is far better than you were giving it credit for. Bow down Sadly not the case Big Cry The dealer really should have discussed a delivery charge before delivery was made. That is out of order charging you for it without notification. Mr. Green
Onwards and upwards, don't dwell on it too much longer, it will spoil the new year festivities.
All the very best for the new year to you and your family Paul. Thumbs Up
Hope the cat doesn't have to make use of its 9 lives by still going on your new motor. Wink

Quick update Embarassed

Dealer offered Xmas eve to swap roof rails and sort boot trim but wasn't budging on 400 from LR so I wasn't pleased and said not discussing it until after Xmas Evil or Very Mad

Had another call new years Eve to say if I accept the silver roof rails I can have my LR goodwill payment Neutral

I explained the silver doesn't look right with the black trim IMHO so after further discussion been offered silver foglight surrounds as per HSE Lux to coordinate roof rails but not rear trim as it's too expensive Rolling Eyes

So what's the opinion here -

1. insist on black rails and battle for 400 goodwill returned or

2. take silver bezels and keep silver rails plus refund then draw line under this fiasco and move on Question Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Don't move on Muddy, I would have no one to feel sorry for and I would miss your battles with LR Rolling with laughter what would you do with your time if you didn't fight with your dealer and LR?

Keep up the fight Muddy, at least win or lose, you or LR will be a happy winner. With compromise, everyone feels like they lose Evil or Very Mad Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

If it's not the car you wanted you're never going to be happy, so stand your ground IMO. You asked for black rails, accept nothing less. Your goodwill payment is provided by LR for you, the customer, not the dealer. If they wish to claim for delivery costs that is an entirely unrelated matter and they have no right to withold your money from you. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Option 1.
As you say, it doesn't look right with silver roof rails. It's their cock up. Let them put it right. Speak to Dealer principal and tell him you will do whatever it takes to recover your 400 goodwill jesture that JLR offered you.. Where will you have to take it for the roof rails fitting? Hopefully a dealer of your choice?

Armstrong Massey York would be carrying out work Confused

Just to clarify the DS pics when I ordered had silver tailgate and foglight trim so silver rails looked acceptable but LR changed to black trim on MY16 so I asked for matching rails

I'm tempted to save myself the hassle and take the silver foglight trim which would make my HSE look more like HSE Lux in much same way some on here have added autobiography bits to upgrade but not sure if it will look right especially if boot trim not changed Embarassed

Or I keep them black and get rails changed to match then battle for my refund Big Cry

Here are some lux pics with silver rails to give idea of finished look -

First off, everything from now on in writing so no room for wriggle on their part. Tell them you want the correct trim colours as ordered. Tell them you want your 400 or you'll take them to small claims court. Oh and make sure LR are copied in on everything. The more that LR are force fed how poor the dealer network is the more chance that they might do something about it.

If you don't want to go on as above, take the 400 and use it for the first service and just get on enjoying the drive; after all you can't see the trim when you're driving it. Oh, and get it serviced at an indie please. No need to give poor dealerships any more money. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
