Alarm fault bonnet switch ?

My alarm goes of now and again and I suspect the bonnet switch ? The bonnet open warning light has flashed up a couple of times whilst driving, can anyone tell me where to find it and whether it is easy to fit a new one ? Thanks in advance for any help .

Hi Paul, and a Merry Christmas to You.

The bonnet switch is located in the right
bonnet lock.

It has a little lever on it, that presses against a
microswitch when closed, sometimes You only have
to adjust the lever.

If that doesn't work, You can release the connector
form the switch and take a paperclip and short it,
a temp fix until You can get a new switch.
IFRC the switch isn't that expensive, about £5-12..

Also have a look at the rubber adjuster "bungs" on the bonnet itself (think they're on the bonnet, if not, poking out of the slam panel). I had an issue that after I closed the bonnet, I had the horn beep when alarming the car and it pointed to the bonnet. I ended up slightly adjusting the rubber stops and this instantly fixed the issue. I guess it was either sitting just a few mm too high or low and was causing a problem.

A cheap possible fix to look into too maybe?

Cheers & Merry xmas...

Ian

I'm having the same issue , Iv bought a replacement switch , my question is how do you remove the old one ? Does the washer bottle need to be removed first ?

Grill off, release 2 plastic clips, and it slides downwards. Takes 60 seconds to replace Thumbs Up
