Definitely report it to police, and your insurance company. With the video evidence, should be an open and shut case.

If you have their number plate, and have reason to do so, (as you do), you can apply to the DVLA to release their details to you. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

This happened to me a few years back in a petrol station and I managed to get CCTV footage. I used a claims management company linked to a firm of solicitors on a no fee basis. This keeps it away from your insurance company (to ensure you don't have to disclose an accident/claim in the future) and to be honest it is a lot less hassle. They essentially follow up with the DVLA to get the relevant details and bring a claim against the driver (who discloses their insurance details) - they manage all the repairs (you can choose your preferred dealer) and they provide a suitable hire car. Can't remember for the life of me what they were called, but I am sure there are plenty of options - I didn't have to lift a finger or spend a penny, no long queues talking to my insurer's call center etc. Highly recommend. |

I contacted A Plan (site sponsor) this morning and described what had happened. I emailed the dash cam footage and pictures of the damage. They rang me back within 20 minutes and gave me the option described above by Jpegnall ie to go through a 3rd party or go directly through my insurance company and pay £450 excess (recoverable if successful)
