KEY FOB - damaged

I have had my key fob for 10 years and perhaps not surprisingly the black outer covering is breaking down. My local RR Dealership in France is telling me it would cost 500 Euros + to have replaced!! Any thoughts?!? Andrew Kennedy

I have just had one of my Keys repaired here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-3-But...Swd4tTw7ts

I'm not sure about the speed of having it done to France but I had it back to me within 48hrs, and it is as good as new.

Is it just me that's suspicious of these types of things. Question

They have your remote frequency and presumably your address because they returned the key to you......it's a small risk I know,....but not that difficult for them to pop round and borrow your motor Shocked

As I say, I'm probably being over the top, and no doubt these people are reputable.....but I'm sure there are some out there who aren't. Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I did worry about this too, but the guy I bought the car off had had the other key repair by the same person and was very happy with the service.

A brand new key, programmed, cut and paired to the car can be done for £160-180 over here. Wink

However, you can simply replace the case: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-RANGE-ROVER...rmvSB=true (These do have the LR logo on too, BTW.) Thumbs Up

You just have to cut the case open carefully, put the circuit board in the new one, and glue it back together. You can either transfer the old blade, or get the new one cut. I suggest you solder on a new battery while you're there too: http://cpc.farnell.com/panasonic-electroni...dp/BT03240 Wink

Same as harry above^^^.

Just buy a new case from the dealers and replace your own internals into it. It's an easy job. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

I have a 12MY and have replaced the covering (along with broken key loop) with main LR dealer. The cost of the part was £9 and didn't charge me any labour - took them 45secs!
