Never used one so can't answer your question. Would an even cheaper solution be go buy the correct oil from a discount store such as Eurocarparts and a genuine filter and drain plug from Duckworths and get a decent local garage to do it for you while you keep your nice clean hands round a mug of tea? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks paddi yer good idea hadn't thought of that, but I do like doing my own I then know it's been done properly
By the way does changing the engine oil and filter affect my 2 year warranty ?..

Yes I feel the same way about doing own servicing.

You should check the small print of your warranty but invariably there is a clause specifying the vehicle must be serviced in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. In the event of a dispute it might be difficult to prove that you have done the service yourself in accordance with that requirement.

Looks like your best bet is find a good independent Land Rover specialist. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

No it doesn't affect your warranty as long as the garage is vat registered & they use LR approved parts & stamp the book.I do a few RRS's & BMW's for folk in my area.

Tdv8 must be drained by the plugs..
For other cars I use the Pela Pro 14.. This is an excellent extracter...

You can still buy your own oil and filter at less than LR dealers charge and ask the dealer to use those when youy want an oil change. I think you might find that you will have a bit of small print regarding servicing within an extended/ aftermarket warranty but then there would be nothing to stop you say doing opil changes part way through a service.......... who could complain that you change the oil at the halfway mileage between services yourself? I don't get you.
you want to make sure it is going to be done the right way! and you started the topic with getting the oil out via an oil extractor.

you won't get al the oil out via an extractor as there are 2 sumps.
Best is to go underneat the car and take the two drains out.

it take me less than 15 minutes to do an oil change. last time I didn't even use a ramp. just put the car in offroad hight

I can make that job last all morning from the 15 mile warm up run to the clean up and disposal of the oil we're talking a good couple of hours Rolling with laughter 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

My RRS is the 3.0L sdv6 not a V8 so I think it on as 1 sump plug and not 2 plugs 😄.
