Pre 2010 Model FBH remote control to preheat the car.

Morning all

I thought I would tell you about the excellent Fuel Burning Heater remote control unit that I have bought from Bell Autos. I have a short commute so wasn't happy with the car not heating up on the journey to and from home. Bell Autos have recently updated their controller so it uses the third button on your normal key.

https://secure.bellautoservices.co.uk/stor...activated/

All you do to activate it is press the third button this puts the headlights on then you turn it off after 2 seconds this then sends a signal to the controller to turn on the FBH. It isn't outside temperature dependant like normal where it has to be below 5 degrees C. The FBH heats the water and sends it round the engine, this means the car starts much more easily because it is warm.

The interior fans do not operate with this system to prevent battery drain, but as soon as you start the car the fans blow warm air into the cabin.

All in all an excellent upgrade... Thumbs Up

How much did this cost. Just interested, I had Geoff from the Disco4 forum fit the remote and timed climate to ours for £300.
The advantage I see of the fans operating (which ours do) is that it defrosts the car from the inside, so on a frost/snow covered car, there's no need to scrape the windows. Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

£226.80 inc Vat, I don't think you can have the fans on a pre 2010 operating..

Yes, I should add, I would have got Ian (Bodsy) to do ours, but just couldn't get our diaries to align. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I have one of the BAS units and agree that it is excellent. I use a plip remote to start my one when I get up in the morning. Mine was one of the versions made at the change over from plip to key use but I decided to use the plip for mine rather than key.

The unit does make a big difference as the heater can give warm air in to the cabin straight away. I keep meaning to changeine to run for 45 mins rather than the standard 30 mins. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I have the "Discostick" version. A useful device to have if your glow plugs are failing. Thumbs Up

Actually, I must get round to fitting it again - took it off in spring for current drain testing and have yet to put it back on. Rolling Eyes Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
