Thanks Guys, looks like I'll be replacing the Alternator. Is it an easy DIY job? 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE- Cairns Blue with 22" Stormers |

Hi there. Readings of about 14.2v - 14.5v when the car is running should be fine and not overcharging the battery as your alternator is supposed to output around 13.8v to 14.2v. Anything over 15v would be considered too high and may well lead to overcharging.

Actually, in this case, up to 15.2/15.3 can be seen normally, according to temperature and battery state etc. ![]() 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver ![]() |

The battery is an OEM Land Rover one. Not sure if its the original or has been replaced at some point. My initial thoughts were battery over alternator due to the readings across the engine at idle. I haven't tried to take a reading at revs yet, it could be peaking high and cooking it. When I checked after a day or twos use it the fluid levels were still ok. 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE- Cairns Blue with 22" Stormers |

Take it somewhere that can check the system properly. My (second) alternator died recently. Battery was flat as you like but once jumped it was showing 13.5V on a meter across the terminals with the engine running. When I took it to the indie I use, he plugged in the diagnostic and it showed that the voltages were actually all over the place (as low as 12V and as high as 14.7V) and the alternator was jiggered. It seems the charging system is not straight forward. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Well, took it to my local Indy and they diagnosed it as the battery. New battery fitted, can't wait for it to be the alternator!!! 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE- Cairns Blue with 22" Stormers |

Well new battery seems to have done wonders for the car, the suspension seems to be behaving itself, there seems to be better performance all round. Amazing! 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE- Cairns Blue with 22" Stormers |

Hi - just curious to know if your new battery still is doing the job and if you have had anymore trouble lately? |
