advice with planning my own route on 2016 gps

Hi all. I'm trying to put in my own route into a 2016 hse dynamic navigation set up. I thought that if I plotted my route via waypoints the nav system would plan the route. This is how I used to do it. However it seems on current vehicle I have only got the opportunity to select one waypoint from the map, when I try to select a second waypoint, the " select waypoint from map", option is greyed out & only allowing me to select addresses or postcodes, the neither of which I know.
Choosing one of the three routes recommended by the car isn't the route I want. I'm certain my earlier model had the ability to select several waypoints & plan route accordingly.
Is there a way to plan my own route?
many thanks

hello JB72. This is how I was shown how to do it. There may be simpler methods & if you find them please let me know.

step1 set destination, let it work out the route,
2 press "review route" & select which is closest to what you want.
4 select "change route" & press "dest/waypoint"
5 press "add" & pick from map. (this is the only time this option is available. From now on it is greyed out.
6 put your WP on map & press "Go"

This is now the tricky part.
7 After the route has been re calculated & you get the verbal confirmation to start, Put finger onto screen & move the cursor to your next WayPoint. At the same time 3 boxes will appear on right of screen, press the lower one "set direction"
this will bring up another box labelled "destination or Waypoint" select waypoint, press ADD.
8 Follow on screen instructions, press RETURN TO MAP, and your route should now go where you want it to.

Follow step 8 as many times as you need to programme the route to where you want to go.

As I said, there may be easier ways & if so I'd like to know them.
regards
paul
