J have a set of 19inch original Range Rover Sport Snowflake designs rims on my 2008 TDV8 and it is fitted with Brembo brakes,original factory fit though, not 6 pot,hope this helps.

You can definately fit 20".
Be careful of aftermarket they don't seem to have same material as orginals.
The latest 2015 RRS's come with 20" wheels as STD with All Season tyres 255/55/20.( plenty of sidewall).


Often you can pick these up from dealers were they have been swapped out for 22".
There are lots of winter tyres available for 20" rims (check other posts.)
Heaven forbid some BMW (X5?) wheels also fit and have the correct load ratings.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Any of the OEM Disco 3 or RRS wheels above 18" will fit an RRS from 2006, just be careful to check what you buy are weight rated for the 2.5 tonnes of an RRS! To protect any rims you buy go for 18 or 19" with a nice high side wall. Remember also you will need a spare if you have a 22" spare under the floor.
The ONLY OEM 19" wheels that will fit over the caliper nipples of the TDv8 with Brembo fornt brakes is the style that were a style like Adsy shows and the wheels originally fitted to the Disco3 HSE - note that it is a Dsico3 NOT Disco4 HSE. I went through all this back in 2007 and somewhere on the forum are posts and photos of the hassles that quite a few of us went through trying to find a suitable wheel for the car. The wheel is a 6 spoke 19" I nneded them for fitting Mud Terrain tyres rather than winter tyres
This is my TDv8 after going offroad on Pirelli Ice and Snow tyres on 19" wheels in the Keilder Forest with the D3 guys

Hi,
took my 20's off a few weeks after buying the car Shocked they can go back on when I sell it in mint condition Laughing

Have this pattern with 255 55 19 ATR's on now

and
Vred winters 255 50 19 will be going on in next couple of weeks when it gets serviced and this pattern


both fitted 2005 and 2010 Thumbs Up

I am new to this forum and RRS ownership - OK so I admit I used to drive a "hair dresser's" well I guess the pimp who owned the hairdressers Mk 1 Audi TT 3.2 V6 which I used to run on Vred Wintrac Extremes and enjoyed a spirited drive in any conditions that the Highlands threw at it - loads of grip etc. Last weekend we had the first real taste of winter and the RSS on 20 inch Scorpion Zero was useless in the slush wiggling around at the slightest hint of a push through corners and not in the least bit confidence inspiring. Shocked Apart from "don't expect a spirited drive slow down and enjoy the scenery" would downsizing to 19 inch wheels and fitting Vreds make a big difference over say just putting on 20 inch Vreds in terms of grip and handling ??

There is a piece on this at this link but is this juts a sales pitch or does the author really have a point ?

Thanks "beancounter" I absolutely understand the laws of physics and completely take the point about 2.5 ton of car etc BUT I would be more interested if anybody has a view, better still actual personal experience, in terms of replacing the 20 inch std Pirelli Scorps with smaller wheels and winter tyres vis a vis improved grip or indeed general handling. Before I shell out a wad of cash in the hope that it might actually make a difference. Banging Head

I had a winter set of 19" wheels with Vreds for my first RRS. They were great. I couldn't get the car to skid when I tried hard in a near empty car park with snow and ice - felt totally in control. The problem was my insurer at the time insisted on classing it as a 'modifcation', wanted to know each time I swapped wheels and charged me for it.

So for the next RRS I just got 20" Vreds to avoid insurance issues. They were superb in several inches of snow in the Alps last winter. The only time I had a problem was when going downhill, on a very narrow road, at an unsuitable speed. Suddenly a PostBus appeared from a sharp turn ahead and I had to brake very hard, when the car happened to be on an icy patch. It stopped well before the bus (the electronics that kicked in may have helped too) but took long enough for it to be a bit scary. Then I had to reverse up the hill and along the bends for a few hundred yards to find a wide enough patch to let the bus pass. I don't blame the tyres. I blame my speed for that one.

19s would definitely be better than 20s but how much better can only be determined when tested in exactly the same conditions. I would imagine 20" winter tyres should be sufficient anywhere in this country. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Thanks "fkarim" been up those alpine roads myself a few times and frankly in anything without full caterpillar tracks you're going to have a few bottom puckering moments Very Happy Good advice vis a vis insurer view I'll check that out and then depending on whether anyone else posts anything relevant perhaps it's as simple as does it make more sense to have a second set of wheels booted for winter or pay to have the winter/summer tyre shuffle which will probably be about 80 quid a pop !!

I chose to get a second set of wheel and tyres for winter, 19" with Michelin winter tyres. I swapped them last weekend and I cannot believe the difference it made to the ride. I had no problems with the 20's but it is even smoother now. Swapping wheels is a hassle but I am also wary of damage to alloy rims when swapping just tyres. Each to their own though.

I ran Vred Wintracs on 19s for three winters and they were pretty good. I'd certainly expect you to notice a world of difference from "summer" Scorpions, that's for sure. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

That article was obviously written by someone who hasn't a clue about the RRS1. 22 inch rims were never standard on the RRS1. Rolling Eyes

However, the general premise that winter tyres will help in winter conditions is sound. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
