Looking for a Freelander 2

Hi,

I've a friend who's finally decided on a Freelander - anyone know of one for sale up to 5 years old let me know.

General thoughts on the Freelander and is there a Freelander forum?

Thanks,
Simon

Excellent as a smaller LR. They aren't without their issues, but generally speaking, the running costs (inc. maintainence) are reduced to match too. Thumbs Up

Only major thing that ever failed in 3 years and over 60k (from 60-somethingk to 130k) was the steering rack.

In my case, the safety factor was put to the test too, as it was written off in an accident (not my fault, I'll add) when towing my horse and trailer (which was to end up upside down in the hedge). Sad

I've owned 2 FL2s before I bought RRSs and they were great Thumbs Up

I decided to buy another this year after selling my RRS to fund property opportunity but saw a DS in the showroom which led to a test drive and that was the end of the FL plan Embarassed

Now getting a new DS for less than I was going to spend on a used FL2 and in 2 years time I can px against another, hand back or pay the balloon and keep it which is the plan Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

The FL2 is an excellent SUV if one hasn't enjoyed one of its bigger cousins, then the interior and the ride are a bit of a let down. Stand alone, though, it's a good car. They're decent off road and comfy on road. I wouldn't be sad to have to drive one for a year. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The wife has a 60 plate GS one of the biggest let downs on a F2 is the hand brake, total pants. Actuators always seizing up. The fuel gauge intermittently goes down to empty even though the tank is full, a known fault that has plagued the F2 from day one.
Finally and seems to only affect 11my on cars also affects Ewokes poor throttle response when setting off and what feels like a misfire under light loads all only when the temp display reads above 12'c it's a software issue. Had the ECU ref lashed and seems to be ok at the moment. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current
