Advice on these wheels

Someone I know is selling a set of 22" wheels that she took off her RRS before selling it, no tyres.

She thinks the wheels are Hawkes, but thats all she can tell me

Pictures below

I'm interested in buying them off her, but I haven't got a clue if that are suitable. after some advice

Can anyone tell from the pictures what wheels they are?
When I look at them, how can I tell if they are the right size (22"), depth and offset?

Thanks J,

What is the ideal width and offset for the RRS of a 22" wheel?

When looking at them, obviously I will be looking for signs of damage, but will it be obvious if they are buckled? or is it a case of not finding that out until i get them balanced with tyres?

For the tyres im looking for 285/35/22, been told Toyo Proxes are best?

Been looking on Blackcircles.com

Toyo Proxes S/T 285/35 R22 W (106) XL are 149.50 and have a rating of E-E-72

Whereas the

Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico 285/35 R22 (106) XL are 158.12 and have a better rating of C-B-73

Are the Pirellis worth the 40? The ratings would indicate yes

I have also tried mytyres.com, any other good sites to try?

J2D, have a look at 4x4tyres.co.uk, the tyres you looked at are 138.60 and 154.60 respectively.

PS I am not affiliated to this company but noticed their lower prices when browsing the web for tyres!

Had a look at these wheels today, had the following stamped on the inside;

22x10J HS227

ET 30

5 x 112 675KG

5 X 114.3 690KG

5 X 130 735KG

From the above, are these suitable for a RRS???

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Am running toyo proxes on my 22s and they have been amazing. 22k miles done and still stacks of tread, great in wet or dry and very quiet.

Considering the weight of the car the confidence they give is superb, especially under breaking.

Really expected them to wear quickly but they have been very good.

Always found pirrelli to wear very quickly on previous cars so went with Toyo instead - certainly pleased with my decision. Smile

Hope that helps. TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s

Not wishing to be a fly in your ointment but the most important figures on those rims related to the load rating of those wheels.... 675kg seems to be very light....
Not sure but it depends what RRS you are running....if you're running the original I seem to remember they need a load rating of at least 900kg each....
Might be taking rubbish this early in the morning but I would definately check....
When I was looking for new wheels for my D4 most aftermarket wheels fell woefully short and I ended up buying original JLR wheels....

Thanks Buckster...it's not me going mad then....with a wheel load so light on such a heavy car will lead to a propensity to a minimum of easily buckled rims to a worst case scenario of wheel collapse... Shocked

So at the very least I'd be checking the rims to ensure they are at least still circular! Very Happy

Not at all mate, I appreciate your input. Did think that seemed way too low!

I have a 2011 RRS, would 815kg be too low?

John

I'm sure the original wheels you were looking at are fine but it really depends on your usage and loading... If you loaded up and mud plugging or moreover if your missus has a tendency to bounce the car up and down kerbs that it where you'll have your issue... Lots of these type of wheels turn up on EBay and the like after the owner tries to put new tyres on them and realises they are oval.... They should be scrapped but people try their luck and pass them on to unsuspecting buyers who think they are getting a bargain!
I've also seen people try to bash them back into shape (and succeed ) with a rubber mallet!

I was looking for a set from my D4 and frustratingly couldn't find anything that was close to the load rating required other than the standard original wheels!

I'm afraid I don't know the RRS rating but you can't be far off....

Anyone know? Very Happy

I have a Genuine L/R 21" Rim in the garage and the Load Rating is 950Kg's. Borbet rim made in Germany but I think the latest rims are now made in Taiwan but would assume the load rating will be the same.

Cheers

Duckworths also have another set of 21" SVR wheels with M&S tyres on them for sale in the for sale section, they will also fit and meet the load rating and the speed rating is higher than any standard RRS will need. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
