2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Burning Smell from Rear offside

I was hoping that somebody could explain the burning smell I have noticed that comes from the rear nearside wheel arch. I am recently purchased a 2010 TDV8 and i had been informed that it was never taken off road. indeed but the look of her she has had a very easy life.

I know that it's good practise to put the car into Low range and cycle through the special programs now and then, just to ensure nothing ceases up. it was after doing this I noticed a burning smell. Since switching back into high range everything is fine. Can you tell me if this is normal if the car had never been out of high range?

Thats

Mate your post is confusing. In the heading you say offside and in the the post you say near side. It could be the EPB, do a search, lots of information on it here.

Mine did this and it was the rear caliper sticking. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available

Most likely the EPB - when in low range, it is applied with additional force, so could explain the results you saw. Wink

I would inspect and adjust the EPB shoes, and be sure to keep checking for hot wheels. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
