Talk Talk Hack

I don't have an account with talktalk but want to contact them to report that my mailbox is being deluged with spam seeming to come from friends who do have talk talk email addresses. Does anyone know an phone number or email address as contacting them through their website seem to be impossible. I want to forward them the some of the spams that are being sent that are obvious phishing scams. It seems that you have to have a talk talk phone to be able to access their call centre....... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

A 15 year old has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the hack. 15 years old!

Hi Tim,

The following (from TalkTalk's help page) might help,

Quote:
How do I report a phishing scam to TalkTalk?

If you've received an email pretending to be from TalkTalk, please let us know. Follow the steps below to report it to us:

1.Open the message and either click Action at the top of the screen, followed by View message source, or click Show Header in the blue message details heading.

2.A new window or drop down section will open to show the full sender information. it's really important that you send these details to us, as it helps us trace the sender.

3.Right click on the text and click Select All. Then right click again and click copy. Paste this into a new email and send to phishing@talktalkplc.com

4.You'll usually get an automatic email to confirm we've received your report, and we'll look into the issue as soon as we can. Please note, we're unable to reply to individual requests.

I wouldn't expect too much from them Tim considering there statements of things like "we're under no legal obligation to encrypt customer banking data".

That to me says it all... they simply don't / won't give a flying................

Cheers..

Ian

Which seems crazy given the requirements of the "DATA protection act"
Companies and individuals having a requirement to receive such personal information must take safeguards to protect and secure that information. We as consumers entrust our most confidential information to these people; for them to (electronically) leave it lying on the desk for everyone to see. Crazy. Surely they are obligated.

Absolute shysters.

My nan just got an iPad and we set her up with email - I'll have to warn her about this.

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't heard about it.
