Anyone in the Cardiff area

Evening all,

Just wondering if there is anybody in the Cardiff area that would be interested in going to have a quick look over a Sport for me if I paid them, before I make the long trip.

I would prefer somebody that knows their way round them and the things to look out for, rather than use the AA, RAC etc.

I would be more than happy to pay for the service, if somebody could help out.

This is the car I'm looking at

Cheers

Chris.

Welcome Chris - cant help with the personal viewing but - myself & a few others have done the facelift on older model Sports upgrading them ( cosmetically ) to the post - late 2009 Model Year - which is what your looking at.
Firstly the bonnet lettering isn't curved to follow the panel shape. The alloys was originally polished at first - may have been painted / powder coated to enable a quick fix. Not sure front grill & side vents was factory fitted in those colours - ( someone else will confirm ) if so these may be copies - the rear tailgate upgrade is a bummer to get right any inspection should get close to that area checking all fittings & fixtures work & are watertight.
The lights front & rear are the grey insets which are 2009 - 2011 versions. With all that said it is only the small cosmetic issues which only stand out too us anoraks Rolling Eyes the history & documents look impressive & relatively low mileage If the work can be confirmed it looks like a decent Sport - probably overpriced IMO by 2k but thats what people seem to be asking for Faceifted Sports.
Sorry for niggly aspects highlighted - its meant in good faith Thumbs Up

Evening Peachy,

Thanks for the quick reply.

That's why I've joined this site for excellent advise like what you've given. The wheels have been repaired, but looking at the pictures, only the outside have been done.

There is some paint damage on the the rear bumper, which Ive been told has been touched up. This worries me a little.

The paperwork and History is one thing that is attracting me, and the car is originally from Ashford where I live.

I've been looking for around a month now, and only a couple have caught my eye, this being one of them.

Thanks for help, is nice to have somewhere to go for advise, so I don't just jump in and buy one that turns out to be a pile of Censored :

Thumbs Up
Cheers

Chris

The owner has told me he is the 5th owner, do you think that's reasonable for a 8 year old Sport?

Chris

IMO thats a red flag but again thats my opinion - these can be expensive toys - easy enough to purchase when they drop to a certain price but new owners soon realise they are expensive to keep. Without warranty even the smallest issues can turn into hundreds & hundreds of pounds. My previous Sport was sold ( deposit taken ) - it then developed a fault that I felt duty bound to put right - £500 - 48hrs before it left my drive Big Cry

Keep looking - the loved ones are out there but few & far between Big Cry 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

I know this will upset a whole heap of people, I wouldn't touch it with a very long barge pole because it has been chipped and likely to have been driven much harder as a result. And at 90k miles you are getting close to some very expensive maintenance in the next 30k miles that might come even earleir than scheduled due to the extra work that the components have had to do as a result of the chipping. Look for an unmolested car as Peachy says, there are loads of nice, looked after and unmodified RRS's out there and by all means chip it AFTER you have bought it but don't buy one that somebody else has given a hard life already. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cheers Tim,

Advise taken on board, that's one reason I was asking if there was anybody nearby to cast their eye over it, as I'm about 4 hours away from it.

Thumbs Up
