Admittedly I haven't tried a Cayenne so you may be right. Don't even know if air suspension Cayennes are comparable price-wise. Like the interior but not the exterior so was never interested. Then again initially I didn't like how RRS2 looks but have one now. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I owned a Cayenne with air and it really was one of the best cars I have driven. However my last car was a Macan with air and I was not impressed so sold it and got virtually all my money back such is the pent up demand. I also test drove another RRS2 last weekend with 21s on it and found the ride really joggly on country roads regardless of what setting I had the air on.

I am on this forum to seek others views about the marque, both pre and post ownership, and have discovered many more negative rather than positive comments. I do not regard those comments to be people 'moaning', more people contributing to an important debate.

I will be basing my decision on a number of factors, including the (non-patronising) views I have read on this and other forums. Perhaps you could tell me how to summarise the views of all the posters as clearly you have.

What was wrong with the macan? Ironically, that is on my list as I am going to bail on the RRS after Christmas; great car, but so many annoying niggles, each of them manageable individually, but the sum of all the continual niggles takes the shine of the ownership experience. latest is a oil leak from the diff me thinks....

Not sure what the big deal is with a few niggles and faults, admit-ably i have not yet received my SVR so have not experienced any of the new faults etc. On my 2011 Autobiography i had various small faults from a knackered air compressor to various electrical faults and a small oil leak. Once the manufacture's warranty ran out i purchased an extended warranty from the dealer which continued to cover this. Each time there was a fault i would simply call the dealer and be asked when could they collect the car. One time it was even stuck in my underground parking so they had to use wheel skates to get it out. They always leave me with a courtesy car at the same time they take it and often ask what car i would like with even having F-type 5.0 to play with for a couple days.

For me it doesn't bother me hugely and i can't think of a more luxurious SUV for driving Thumbs Up 2019 Urban Urus - May Delivery. Gone to the dark side...

parish, it's true you won't get many people who are happy with their cars coming here and providing input. This skews the feedback more towards negative. I am not denying LR have QC problems - my own car has a few. However, they are relatively minor (no breakdowns/faults/warnings yet) and I am looking forward to have these rectified and moving on. Even now these issues don't get on my nerves because RRS is superb at things that matter more. At least both dealer and LR have acknowledged all 3 issues I have raised so far. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have had my RRS2 since late March 2015 and to date it has not needed any unscheduled callsto the dealership, no recalls that cannot wait until service day and no niggles. This is my 11th Land Rover product, and 3rd Sport, since 1996. Out of all those cars I have had 2 that had unscheduled calls into the dealership for important TSB items to be looked at. None of them have left me stranded at the roadside or on a hillside in the middle of nowhere (and I take my cars where Land Rover and the Wilks brothers intended them to go). Is the RRS unreliable - well that is for you to decide, but I have wouldn't say it was. Does it have some niggles , yes but you show me any marque that doesn't. In our household we have owned BMW's that have left us stranded on the side of a cold wet motorway for hours because of a stupid wheel design that was not strong enough to do the job, and an Audi that suffered a roof opening/ closing mechanism that jammed so often and needed roadside assistance so many times that Audi bought back the car, now we read of underhand dealings with diesel emmissions and denials of excessive oil consumption that is " a characteristic of the engine" in the UK and Europe but is a recognised issue in the USA........... I suggest that you go and buy annRRS and see for yourself if your car has all the issues that you imagine afflict EVERY Land Rover coming off the production lines, they don't all have the issues mentioned or even one of them, just like BMW, VAG, Mercedes and even Kia, Hyundai and GM have a few cars with a few problems. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Iain M re the Macan. They have got it wrong ergonomically (only IMHO of course before I go upsetting anyone else..). Getting in an out of the car without the side bolster (on the 18 way sports seats) ending up somewhere you don't won't it, or banging your head was an issue - and I'm only 5'10.. Once you are in, the driving position is fine but there is a large bulge in the transmission tunnel which means your left foot aches after a long journey as even if you could reach the foot rest - which you can't without the seat being too far forward - you would have to bend your foot at an awkward angle. So I ended up with my left foot flat and leg bent which again was uncomfortable on long journeys. The plethora of switches I would say is dangerous as you end up distracted to change suspension, climate and sports settings etc.

To drive it was ok but not anything to write home about. The air suspension was nowhere near as good as on the Cayenne which surprised me. Must have been something to do with the size of the car. The Macan is BTW quite small, particularly in the back. I had the diesel, which I only found out after commitment is in fact an Audi engine, and was surprised with the amount of lag in certain circumstances.

On the positive side it was as tight as a DA and exuded build quality all round. No rattles, no fuel slap, no gaps, etc etc. !

No cars perfect! IN fact nothing is perfect fullstop! Just have to buy what you like, go and create some memories in it and then enjoy! When the cars been sold you'll remember the memories way more than any niggles you had in the car! Focus on life! We can all worry about some small gap, or 1 second delay on an infotainment, but if you like the feel of the car then buy it, if you don't then don't! Simples!

Oli , I have acknowledged quite a few times on the forum the RRS2 is the best styled and probably most luxurious SUV currently on the market. Head to head with the XC90, (the only other 7 seater with air suspension worth considering) no contest. So to also repeat, my dilemma is simply one of style over substance.

Very envious, as I suspect others will be, of your dealership who sounds brilliant.

I test drove the Macan prior to placing an order for the RRS. I thought it was a fun car to whip around. My hang up was the bubble butt styling and the size. The space behind the rear seat is very small. Was hoping to like it because my build would have been $10-20k cheaper. 2016 SCV8 Dynamic - Firenze Red/Pimento

Another perspective:

JLR have sold 450,000 Evoques to date, give or take a few. If you looked through the relevant forums, you might think that they were poorly built, ill designed, unreliable sheds that no-one in their right mind would contemplate.

The truth is that the vast majority of owners have no issues and love their cars, and never go onto forums because they don't need to, and a large proportion of the minority of people who do have some form of trouble go onto forums to tell other people about it. Misery does indeed love company.

So the RRS will be just the same - it is without a doubt the best SUV out there in its niche, they are making a lot of them just as fast as they can, and some will go wrong.

But hoping that JLR suffers a huge reverse in a key market to "teach them a lesson" is a bit rich. Cool MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
