Thats because you really need a ramp to change this type of bush and its not an easy DIY job..

Called my garage today.
They will fit both front and back for £110 using the bushes I've purchased.
Pointless struggling for that money!

Thanks Flack Thumbs Up

I have to agree with Flack. Did my front active RRS bushes today - 6 Hours. Left side needs propshaft undoing and tying out of way which gives you about 2 inches to play with. Right side has active bar hydraulic lines right in way as well. You can't get a socket on ANY of the 6 bolts!! Even with bolts out getting the drivers side bush in is next to impossible! If you were brave would have been made easier by disconnecting hydraulics to bar to remove these pipes but there's obviously risk of ingress of dirt etc so I left those well alone.

Tbh £110 to fit is a steal for an active bar. It's an awkward messy finger nipping job.

What I would say it that there were no obvious wear signs prior to dismantling, using a pry bar etc. I almost didn't bother after looking. However my car had only just started to knock when steering left right etc at 30 mph which seemed to be a good test. As the drop links had no wear it had to be the bushes really. I'm very happy to report it was them!

So in summary everybody don't be fooled by the how to guide for the D3 which appear straightforward. I'm a mere diy'er not pro like Flack. These were not straightforward. And mine weren't seized or rounded off etc etc... 3.0 SDV6 HSE L494

Hi when you say...
Left side needs propshaft undoing and tying out of way which gives you about 2 inches to play with.
is there any particular way I have to check /mark the way the prop comes out or is it a case of removing the bolts of the prop and easing it out the way?

I have so far done the drivers side and went to do the passengers side the same day and could not get a spanner/socket anywhere near the three bolts.

Remove bolts in propshaft flange and yes mark where it originally went to be sure it goes back in the same place. Bit of a faff as I recall having to turn the shaft to get to all the bolts. Eg lots of gearbox changing from P to N etc but otherwise it's straightforward. It will probably be stuck with all bolts out so a small blow should do the trick. I would recommend new bolts on reassembly however. Good luck! 3.0 SDV6 HSE L494
