RRS delayed throttle response

A lot of forum members complain about the delayed throttle response and the dangers of pulling away at roundabouts.

I just wonder if this is something LR engineers built in to the software to meet government noise requirements at 30MPH of 76 decibels.

See today's article in the Times about Porsche falling foul of doing this and the dangers to owners when suddenly accelerating.

England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

I tracked this fault down to the car still being in 2nd gear, due to not coming to a full stop at a roundabout or other junction. Once I realised what was going on in the cars brain I haven't experienced the problem since.

I do think though that it could be solved with a software update or remap though.

Jim

Have experience of this on MY10 and MY13 - the latter was not as bad but the 10 was lethal - close death experience a few times especially crossing dual carriages Shocked

Brake switch was replaced repeatedly and software update but in the end I couldn't trust it and px'd

The SDV6 with 8 speed was lot better but occasionally woke me up and set the ticker racing.

Guys on discosportforum having issues with DS now and believe it can be cured by selecting gear with paddleshift before accelerating but bit inconvenient Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I find switching into sport mode when approaching busy roundabouts/junctions usually allows for a smooth non dramatic integration into the traffic flow
