The realistic average for the TDV6 is low to high 20s, dependant on the mix of urban/country/motorway driving. AFAIK, the TDV8 is not far behind. Thumbs Up

I've averaged 25 from a TDV8 over an 18 month period, mixed driving.

My wife gets 34mpg at a steady 75mph motorway and 30/31mpg around town. It's a 2011 3.0 tdv.

Used to get 27-29mpg in my 2007 3.6 TDV8 in local driving (I don't commute or do much city driving), on long drives up to 35mpg sometimes better. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

From my TDV6 I have got 25mpg on the motorway. And that is creeping up from the 8mpg it was showing when I picked it up. The average speed it shows is still only 17mph. I have done about 190 miles so far.

Local commuting about 20. Long run about 25 in my tdv8. Not bad as doesn't get many long runs and I like the noise/torque.

Just make sure you calculate it when you fill up. The trip computer is very optimistic (approx 10% too high). 2010 TDV8

Cheers guys. I sold my D4 SDV6 4 years ago and have been running a Hilux Invincible which give 28MPG with AT2s on. I was considering a secon hand RRS as they are a bargain at the moment and of course the V8 is an even better deal and usualy with low miles. Generaly how reliable are they compared to each other. I never had a problem with The D4 and only EGR valves on the D3.

The TDV8 is considered less reliable, suffering more turbo failures than the TDV6, but as always, it's a bit of a lottery on both sides. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

20 mpg around town and 30 mpg on a good run (tdv8 ) which seems better than my discovery 3 tdv6 2.7 , and definitely more grunt when needed Very Happy

Hi , I had and very much miss my 07 3.6 v8 Big Cry , when I bought it -it said average was 19.1 !!! In the 18 months I owned it I always got between 24.5 and 26 mpg driving round Herefordshire (even Hereford itself !!) Went to Cornwall for the week out of season and got 28mpg . effortless and would not begrudge spending a single penny on fuel for it . Miranda ....Just to add ,If this your thread is to help make a choice between the 2 , for me there was no contest , I was going to buy the v6 as I thought it would be cheaper all round , fuel , tax, insurance ! but just drive the 2 on the same day , there was no comparison V8 all the way
