22" kahns buckled ;(

I bought a resprayed and conditioned set of 5 spoke kahns. Was delighted with the price and they looked totally fine, that is until I went to install them today, the tyre company told me they would not fit them as they would vibrate with the buckles in them. I was totally gutted. Had big hopes to see them on today and have got the tyres already. So back to the drawing board I guess to get this sorted.

The alloy refurb place told me they get the kahns in from the factory with buckles on them and they are the very worst in wheels. They say stay clear of 22's in general as the only ones that are okay to use are OEM ones. Does anyone have a set of 22's that they are happy with? I mean that are not dented with kerbs or ramps?

Because I might just respray my 20 OEM wheels now and forget the dream of big rims. Big Cry

18 months and 15k miles later and my 22 Overfinch Supersports are still good as new, looking at the design of some other wheels out there it is hardly surprising they can't take the loading.

If you have tyres already contact the team at Overfinch and see what they can do for you on wheels only...Smile TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s

personally i think 22"wheels transform a sport,i have fitted them to every sport i have had and have found if 40 profile tyres are fitted there is a lot less chance of cracking silverRRS 2.7 TDV6 22"WHEELS FULL COLOUR CODE,STEPS,REMAP..gone

Australia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Bonatti Grey

Agree that there are very few 22" wheels that are not going to buckle or crack. With 40 profile there is less chance.

I brought the car 12months ago with 22" replica Supercharged rims. I started to get some vibrations about 3 months ago and took them to be balanced. Told they had slight buckles in 2 of the rims. Put heaps of weigths on them to get them near nice on the back. Sad

So as I was looking at going 'bush' I investigated getting some other rims with higher profile tyres. Ended up getting a near new set of Std 2015 wheels and 255/55/20 tyres. These actually have a larger rolling diameter than the 22" and fill the guards nicely.
I had them fitted to the RRS today but the story doesn't end there!!!
Picked up my old set of 22" to find that 2 of them had cracks on the inner of the rims. Shocked How luck I changed them today.
Photos here I hope.
