Evening, we sat down at Stratsones 18/7/15 specced up a new my16 HSE dynamic, paid the deposit to secure the car on the basis that they said I would have it on or around 27th November.

Now just had a phone call from Stratstones saying the car won't be here til January.
Claiming not to know what's happended, blaming LR and putting it down to one of the options maybe holding it up.

The options were pretty standard - santorini black, Ivory, piano black trim, fixed Pan roof, stealth pack, parallel park assist, 19speaker upgrade, full spare wheel, privacy glass, 22" wheels

Is that normal? I kinda feel someone's come though the door after me demanding the same car in November and I've been palmed off?

I also rang Llyods LR dealer today they're not far from us also , explained the situation and asked for a definate delivery date from them they say November/early December.

What do I do? Java black 2006

Tell them you want your deposit back,,which you are entitled to & mention your going elsewhere for one,hopefully they will change their attitude.

Get money back. Go to Lloyds. Order car (and stress to them that you don't like being messed around so anything earlier than November would be very much appreciated). 

It's the old dealer trick , tell you anything to get your deposit and then when your best friends they drop the bomb , it's someone else's fault and they will do their best to try and sort it for you .
They have sold their quota for that quarter and your on the next quarter now .

Is this abnormal with the rrs2 , arrival date gettin put back like this so soon after signing the paper? Is there a possibility they could be genuine Java black 2006

The reason for the delay really isn't the issue here, they were happy enough to take your money, and it's hardly a budget range car we are talking about here, so quite a price tag I should imagine.
Personally I'd be insisting the deposit is in my bank within 24hrs and take your business elsewhere, I'm sure you work hard enough to be able to own such a vehicle, perhaps the dealership should work just as hard to make sure you get it. 2005 Vesuvius 1st edition ( now sadly gone ).

A friend of mine had this exact same issue with another dealer, he waited the extra couple of months to then be told it had been pushed back again, by the time he realised that it would be 8 months (yes 8 months) over the originally agreed date he cancelled the order and then had issues getting his deposit back as he had left it so long... get in there... cancel the order... go somewhere else... but pin them down to a firm delivery date as they will only do the same.

My friend ended up buying an Audi instead and has said he won't have a RRS even if they gave it to him now.. well done Land rover... customer service at its finest

What surprises/confuses most is that just this past Saturday I was told delivery would be early Oct (to me) if I ordered now. Delivery status is very unclear with LR it seems. Is it really that difficult ! Tony

For most cars (the SVR was different, but may not be now) each dealership has a different allocation. 

I'm sure these excuses are also money driven if they have enough orders to hit there targets they would like to think they can delay things.

Perhaps asking for you money back would magic up a better slot

I was first told 12 weeks when wanting to order then that moved to 16 weeks and I hope it comes forward not backwards

Cheers for advice everyone , my partner took the deposit back, is going to wait til March and get one from elsewhere.
We too suspect there was foul play somewhere.
Even at the end they hummed and harred about giving back the deposit, she had payed it from her debit card originally but they have her it back by cheque the awkward .
Anyway it's sorted now and will start again At another dealer closer to the time. Cheers Java black 2006

We figured if we going to get a new car mid January n pay all that money she'd rather wait til March for the new Reg.
