Welcome to TDV8 club.. Forget the LR seviceing, change the oil and filter every 5/6 k and make sure you drain BOTH sump plugs. Always let the engine tick over for a minute to let the turbos cool down, and finally enjoy 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

I love my TDV8 but I agree with Camelrock about taking care of it. The warm up and cool down is important to protect the turbo's. Lots of information on this forum about that. The power is intoxicating. |

You can drive yourself mad looking at these forums. I bought one in June (10 plate TDV8), and was convinced it was making some strange noises on acceleration etc. looking on here, it could have been something serious etc. it has since been checked out by 2 indy's both of whom state there is nothing wrong with it and it drives really well. Just enjoy it and the great engine. As said here, make sure you don't boot it from cold and let it warm down (or drive the last few miles like miss daisy). Having stressed myself out for 2 months, I am now beginning to enjoy it and love it. You will too. |

Oh, and if you haven't already, get a decent warranty. Aside from anything else, will give you peace of mind on the more expensive bits and allow you to enjoy it. |

In 1996 when I bought my first Discovery1 V8iES the dealership told me always to bear in mind that all Land Rover products make strange noises, 99% of them are of no consequence or normal for the operation of the vehicle............... and if you hear one of the 1% then usually it is followed pretty quickly by silence and an immobile car..............

Agree with everyone here... My 07 TDV8 is on 125k miles and (tempting fate) it is still as good as new (well prob not but feels it...) Only issues in its life have been an alternator, two batteries and the usual brake discs etc... Love the rumble and power of the V8 and agonise about probably having to sell it when the warranty runs out at 135k. Low mileage TDV8s are becoming rare... |

Indeed. Only those that really don't do their homework manage to escape the syndrome. Starts of as "This is great. I can prepare for all the problems." but it quickly turns to "What was that noise? Did that light flash? Did it do that before?" After a while you get used to it and relax...and then something does happen. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |
