SVR or Autobiography?

I am going to get a brand new Sport, that much is decided! I'm going to drive both the SVR and an SDV6 AB this week, so will maybe answer my own question in a few days. I've lusted after the SVR since first seeing it, but my sensible side is saying stick to a diesel. Viewed an AB in white with stealth pack, and I thought that looked great also.

I don't do many miles (5-6k annually), and although there is about 20k between them when they are both spec'd, that's not a big consideration. We have 2 kids so the seating in the SVR isn't a problem.

SVR would be ordered for March 1st 2016 I was told, whereas an AB would be sooner, although I have my 12plate Sport so again, neither is a deal breaker.

I know it's a great problem to have, but it is genuinely giving me sleepless nights worrying about making the 'right' decision. I normally have a 'weekend' car (just sold my R8 Spyder) but i will slim down to just the one car.

I do worry the SVR will be a bit hard edged for day to day use, I find my SDV6 very comfortable and rounded. Anyway, I've had a couple of beers and I'm rambling, anybody have any input to assist my decision?

Just gone from a V10 R8 and an S3 into 1 car as the Sport.

I would've gone SVR funds permitting. Bow down MY16 SDV6 AB Dynamic Stealth

Hobster - it was an AB exactly the same as yours in Farnell's at Leeds that has made me question whether I need/want the SVR. That's what I will have if I don't go for the SVR. Love it in Fuji with the Stealth pack, although the SVR would have to be blue! Not a fan of the chrome type wheels on the SVR though, aaaaaaargh Big Cry

If it were me, I'd go SVR but I'd request from SVO that they use the AB seats.... 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography

I was kind of in the same position

I've got from a v10 r8 to the v6 desiel mainly becuase using it as the daily drive wasn't getting the best from the car and at the weekend we used the Mrs q3 with the kids.

So I couldn't of had the svr anyway as I wanted 7 seats.

At first I wanted the supercharged petrol I wasn't worried about the fuel costs but I decided on the v6 as I didn't think I would use the extra speed and power 90% of the time. I also thought better economy is a bonus and resale value I think the sdv6 will lose less.

I've taken the sensible approach I think this time with normally only keeping cars 9 months before I change I'm thinking this one might be different or not Smile

If I want a toy to play with though I could buy something more sporty as a toy perhaps than a svr ? Super 7 or atom etc it depends on what you want it for and if you can afford it buy it

Yeah same for me on a couple of those points - the R8 wasn't getting used due to it being a 2 seater and the Mrs frowning everytime i went out in it lol.

The resale thing is also bugging me a little. I know the SVR is commanding prices above list right now, but come next year when mine would be delivered, I'm sure they will have started to slip. I know I shouldn't worry too much about it, but I have nagging doubts about losing too much money...

I don't tend to keep my cars for too long either, perhaps a year max. I would probably try and keep this new one for a couple of years. I suppose the SDV6 and an Aeriel Atom is only slightly dearer than an SVR Whistle

Same here mine was either outside my office or on my drive or even left in the garage.

No chance of going anywhere fancy to take photoes. The range though the whole family can use so im hoping to get out and about more in it. Maybe not the Alps just yet though but great photo Hobster.
