Just joined up as I am at the moment seriously considering RRS to replace my Discovery 2 V8
Had Land Rovers for about 3 years now and love them to bits but also hate the bleeders sometimes too, they are definitely a challenge at times thats for sure
Anyways, budget gets me an HSE 2.7 V6 with about 100K on the clock 06 or maybe 07 reg but I am really struggling handing over £12-£13k for a car with 100k on the clock but I suppose I'll get over that!
So, just a couple of questions from you well weathered RRS owners

1 What is the extra button on the top left of the steering wheel? (most don't have it)
2 How important would a warranty be?
3 Why do all the rear passenger locks appear to be U/S?

1. Radar cruise control. You can live without that (and most 2.7's doesn't have this option in any spec anyway)
2. A 2.7 TDV6 has two main problems: first, the oil pump in the early models was faulty by design. LR has changed this pump and it should've been changed by an owner while doing the cambelt, however a failure of this pump is catastrophical and the only way to check if the pump has been actually changed to the newer design, is to do the whole cambelt procedure anyway. Second: the main bearings are extremely sensitive to any change in lubrication - be it efficiency of the oil and pump. So yes, a warranty would be your good friend once you get a 2.7. Regards etc.,

You're probably right about the adaptive cruise control and I think definitely correct about a warranty, thnk I may of known that answer before I asked LOL
Just another quick question please, do they all come with towing electrics and the fitting for the detachable tow bar or not?

The fitting is stock I believe (all cars I've seen had it), so I assume most cars would be delivered with the actual hook in the trunk. Mine didn't (and the hook goes for around 200 quid, IIRC :/ ). I don't know about the electrics, but it would seem implausible to outfit the car with the hardware and not the electrics. It is possible that the actual connection, wires and power outlet, was a dealer-installed accessory but you'd have to ask someone who took delivery of a brand new RRS back in the time  Regards etc.,

I had a 2.7 and it was supplied second hand with no tow ball but there was a slot in the tool kit for one.
I did get one from the dealer but think it came from another Range Rover.
When I removed the cover there was no tow electrics so had to fit them my self.
If you are going to look at one I would remove the cover and have a look and check the tool kit to see if the tow ball is there. Lot of Landcruisers now sold

Depends if you want speed and thirst or a bit slower and better fuel economy.
There is a lot to consider and would have a good read about both before you make up your mind. Lot of Landcruisers now sold
