Gloss Black Detailling

My white HSE will be coming in a few weeks. I want to get the gloss black detailling done to autobiography spec. If I am correct this will include the following: wing mirrors, side vents, fog lamp surrounds, tailgate strip, front grill, front and rear undershields. The colour coding of side skirts and the bumpers will be done in the factory.

Is it better to have these bits painted or wrapped? Can anyone indicate what they have been charged to do this work?

Thanks

Here are all the parts needed but you wouldnt need the bonnet vents, it works out at about £900, I`m thinking of doing it this way. Just wondered how easy it is to take the trims off

Thanks guys. Thats very helpful. I spoke to prestige wrapping in Manchester this morning who said they could wrap each of those components in gloss black. He actually said the bits underneath the bumpers would be much better wrapped as the area would be prone to stone chips.

Turk is your interior ebony/cirrus? I have the same in order with fuji white.

It's looks great Turk. I was anxious about ordering it as I wasn't able to see it in the flesh. I have seen fuji white with ebony/ivory interior which I think looks terrible. The ivory just clashes with the fuji white. Looking at yours I think I have made the right decision.

My dealer seems really uninterested in doing the gloss black colour coding for me which is annoying as it would be great to have it done before delivery.

Turk can I ask which dealer you purchased from? I have ordered from Farnells Central Leeds but they are really reluctant to sort out the black detailing work until after I take delivery which will be inconvenient to say the least.

It was Copley Land Rover in Halifax, they were extremely helpful sorting everything for me

Speak to your dealers body shop directly! The body shops are usually run as independent businesses even though they may share the same franchise name as your dealership. I had this experience with Harwoods Croydon. They were not interested in offering me the colour coding until after delivery. I spoke to the bodyshop and struck a deal - they then picked up my car from the dealer before delivery and sorted everything out for me - including changing my wheels from 20" to 22" (which i had bought off ebay!) and balancing them for me. They then sent the car back to Harwoods ready for pick up day on March 1st and all was sorted out for me Smile

Payment for my mods were made directly to the bodyshop and not the dealer. HTH good luck - exciting times - can't believe I have had mine for 6 months now and it still excites me so much - no better 4x4 out there right now Thumbs Up

Oh and DON'T WRAP! To get a decent wrap job would cost you nearly the same amount as painting! Anything cheaper will be peeling off in 2 months time Exclamation

Thanks Buddy. That's great advice. I will get onto them today. Did you get the bodyshop change the rear sport badge to a red one?

I paid:

Lower Bumpers and Side Skirts in Fuji White - £960
Spraying the front grill, Side vents, fog surrounds and rear tail bar and mirror in gloss black - £300
Painting the front and rear skid pans in Gloss black £80
Fitting wheels, Balancing and 4 wheel laser alignment £100
Changing over all badges to black and red sport badge - free Smile

So if you are not having the white bits done then your quoted amount is insane as I paid under £400 for it all.
