The quoted figures are the result of the Euro-required test methodology. One might argue that LR have set up the ECU and gearing to do as well as they can in the tests but they wouldn't be alone in doing that.

All car manufacturers are banned by EU law form saying anything about mpg/emissions other than the figures garnered through the unrepresentative EU test cycle, so you cannot really blame JLR.

Yes, but if the fish twins have their way, not for long. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
