Later vehicles (i.e. from 10MY) have a "smart" charging system and do run at lower voltages, but yours shouldn't be. What type of aternator is it; is it OE? Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Denso is OE so no issues there (thought, that's not to say it can't still be faulty).

Have they checked the control connections? Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I have a guys number who is an electrical mechanic so hopefully when i can get through to him he will be able to test the connection as sadly im not very electrically minded.
would you say that with my model and year i would have this smart charge thing then or if not what could possibly be the problem as ive now had a new battery and new alternator?

No, you don't have the smart charging system. I would think the problem is likely to be either a wiring issue or a faulty alternator. One would hope it's the former, but faulty parts out of the box do occur...

Ive now got it booked in tomorow at a garage that "specialise" in electrical faults he said it could be the wire at fault . Also ive taken the old alternator to the local shop where they recon alternators and hes told me its definatly got smart charge on it as i have the smart charge connection on the alternator so now im very confused :/ .

The alternator is not entirely dumb, it is controlled by the engine ECU, but the true smart charging system with battery monitoring etc. is only on the later vehicles. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
