It is a little bit lower, but as it's a percentage of the width, it's not as bad as if it were a 265/30. I'm minded the same though - I don't like low sidewalls. Sadly though, I can't see that there's anything else available, so, it seems, your only other option would be a smaller set of "winter" wheels (which personally, I would favour).
