Spoke to my Dealer today, regarding a service plan, I've just had the second one done, bought a two year plan when I got the car. The price they have given me is £1360 inc vat £40 x 35 months.
Question is. Is it worth it?? Or would I be better sticking £40 under the rug and shop round nearer the time. I feel I should go to a main dealer as in the past, it caused problems with warranty issues on my work van, when I needed to claim warranty, with them saying, it should have been done this way. There is (so I am told) a very good indie not far from this dealer. But when I come to sell it, does it sell better if its only been serviced by a main dealer or not ?? I only buy cars with FMDSH, some say it doesn't matter but for me it's important. An when you come to sell its a lot easier to sell with FMDSH.

I think a well respected indie stamp in your book is just as good as a main dealer one, probably better in fact. Shouldn't be any warranty issues either as long as they use the recommended bits.

Mixed feelings on this, had my FFRR for 5 years all Main Dealer and at 8 years and 100k miles it was worth Trade Money. The up side was knowing that everything was picked up and done when needed. On one occasion Dealer even offered to supply parts if I wanted them fitted elsewhere and offered to check when passing next that they were fitted correctly. Did try an Indy once and had to go back as bits missed and needed a lift in and back each time as no courtesy car. Pros and Cons for each, I have found my dealer very accommodating.

Conversely, I found my local LR dealer has not been at all good - they've even broken things on the vehicle.

If you find a good garage, be it main dealer or indie, then stick with them.

LR's warranty will work with indies. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
