It's for vehicle registered after April 2017 but it's also ONLY for the first year. After the first year there is a flat rate of £140 for all cars.

I think the Tax for a £40000 car is frankly a bit insulting. It is basically saying, if you can afford nice things we want more money from you. |

An when someone buys its used after 3 years for £25k it will have this ridiculous tax burden. |

A three year old car will have the £310pa supplement for the next two years. It'll still be cheaper than my TDV8 is now £505 this year.

The government said most people will pay £145 pa on the new system but this will hit almost every LR buyer as most are over £40k

Unfortunately/fortunately the wealthy will not protest in the central London and smash up banks/government buildings to make a point. Charge a wealthy person an extra £300 a year they won't mind. Take £30 a year off a benefits claimant they will bring the house down. |
