It would do everything on his list of requirements which, as he's obviously looking at ditching LR and their Censored -poor reliability, is the issue here. Your obvious love of LR is touching, but it's not necessarily what is required here. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thank you everyone for your responses. I do love my RRS and I am not cutting and running without a lot of thought. I need to get every type of insurance and warranty I can to make sure I feel comfortable about driving 350 mile trips across France with wife and two pets in the car.

There is no doubt in my mind that RRS and FFRR are the best 4x4s bar reliability.

Take your RRS to Rob at Rovertune in Reading and tell him your history etc.
He can do a "health check" for you for <£100 and give you an honest opinion.
Rovertune are regarded as some of the best people in the region.

Way out of my league or interest. Will pass it on to mt brother in law though. The latest RRS is also way too expensive. Looks like I'm sticking with what I've got for now.

Now it is sorted , hopefully you will be ok. Get full euro breakdown cover. Mercs can also have problems. Just budget for the usual maintenance items. If you want solid reiabilty get a Toyota Land Cruiser or the Lexass equivalent ..
