I have owned RR's since 1974 and never had a problem with them , except
in 1994 in the UK I purchased a brand new LSE 4.2.....from day one it was
a dog.....in the dealers garage more than mine !! To the credit of HR Owen after 6 months of horror stories they gave me a brand new 1995 3.9 RR.
Now that's what I call service, its all down to the individual dealerships and
what kind of relationship you form with them, and of course sometimes you
can end up buying a car that was made at 4-00pm on a Friday !! As i did !!
Anyway I think the RRsport is an amazing car to have come out of the LR
stable and fits very nicely in to the brand line up. I have not had any problems thus far and every where I go here in Manhattan people stop and
stare at the car !!! where Porche's are 2 a penny !! Nice to fly the flag in a
nice motor !! Finally !! and yes the Jag engine in the SC is very sweet.......

Mr G,

Turning heads in NYC is a complement indeed. I grew up in Long Island and my parents live in Manhattan so i know exactly what you mean. You see all manner of nice rides in NY and, as a general rule, New Yorkers are usually hard to impress.

By the way, folks, we may be pulling the trigger today. My wife and I stopped into another dealer's showroom today for a quick comparison of the RR and RRS. It was her first time sitting in it and really seeing it in person. We defnitely agreed that the lower RRS height would suit her better. We settled on a color combination, althoug a little begrudgingly.

She really wanted charcoal interior and had been thinking that all along as it was available on the RR. When I broke the bad news that it wasn't available on the RRS, she was a little disappointed. I figured she might go with black instead, but she really doesn't like the look of an all black interior. Thankfully, they had a few RRS's on the lot so she could see Ebony, Ivory and Aspen. She didn't like the Aspen, not to mention it isn't available in either the Luxury Interior Package or the SC version. So, that left Ivory. Definitely not her 1st choice, but she'll live with it. She also would have preferred the oak over the cherry, but again, it necessitated the ebony interior and that was definitely a no go (let's not even get into the Vesuvius discussion even though they may have had one available Wink).

So, we decided on an SC Bonatti or Tonga with Ivory interior. We wanted RSE, Sat radio and PTI. Given the limited availability of RRSs in general and especially the SC, I fully expected to have to get a build slot. I got in touch with my salesguy and let him know what we were looking for. He checked into the available inventory and guess what? They have a Bonatti SC coming in within the next 10 days that has those options plus Adaptive Cruise. My wife's mulling it over as we spea, but we'll probably put down a deposit on it this afternoon.

Thanks again to all of you folks for reading and responding. Boards like these really show how powerful a tool the net can be.

Jeff

The only thing I wish for my RRS was a slightly faster gear change. Love every other aspect of the car, but compared to mercedes/bmw autos its just not as quick. I found that with my old RR as well. Maybe the new gear box in the RR will sort that out?

LeePeto Try manually shifting it in Commandshift if you want faster shifts, or really wellying it so that the adaptive shift learns your driving style.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Stornoway Grey

Isn't it funny, my wife came with me originally when we went to look at a Range Rover and because we'd seen the Jeremy Clarkson bit on Top Gear about the RRSport SHE was interested in driving one. At this point it's worth pointing out that the Sport had been launched about 4 days previous officially, so I said to her there was no chance of getting a drive in one yet, especially the Supercharged.

Low and behold the dealer had a 1st Edtion in Zambezi sitting there. The money on the Range Rover deal didn't look good and as we were leaving she asks if there's a chance of a drive in the Sport SC, to which we got a "yes"...Intrigued I was... Shocked

The wife preferred it to the full size RR as she is of a 'petite' size. It was actually her decision to get one, I of course was not one to argue.

I think Guests MDPs and rgbyhkr s approach to ownership and others including newbies and die hard LR nuts expecting problems is best.....they'll be much less dissappointed when theirs does breakdown.
Agree with Turbo Chip, we're all Land Rover 'Guinea Pigs' testing various components!

yeah, I can see where you're coming from there RRUK perhaps, maybe Wink

I wouldn't say Guest still buying Land Rovers after 20 years is a defeatist attitude but much the opposite.
That's my point: so what if it breaks down, we can deal with it, don't give up but get it fixed. We've got 3 years cover at least, so get it fixed, deal with it and keep going, then you can start to really enjoy the car.
And buy another Land Rover again and again instead of a boring reliable Jap 4x4!

A car has got to have presence, look good, sound good, feel good, handle well and most of all put a smile on your face - thats why I bought a Range Rover Sport Supercharged! Funny that ...... must have applied the same principles when I married my wife. Embarassed
