As someone who grew up in the area I have seen divers in their droves using these waters and met many even in Yorkshire who visit regularly. I also know many lives would of been lost without the station

I find it sad that this is not being closed for financial reasons but they say operational

This is a popular tourist spot and crews are kept busy with cliff incidents and divers now the fishing is just about gone. My brother in law was a coastguard on this stretch for years but packed in last year due to this mentality of desk based decisions with no respect for the guys on the ground or in boats risking there lives

Just to update this - RNLI ignored the petition and objections from many bodies with experience and closed down the lifeboat

A fund has been set up to buy and run an independent lifeboat now so if anyone would like to donate please help

I was privileged yesterday to see the new independent lifeboat and meet Euan a Disco3 member

Next week is the official launch if anyone is in the area and wants to see the beast - it's pretty impressive
