Considering New Order RRS - Advice Needed

Hi

New to the forum, used to be active on DISCO3, had a Disco 4 for a number of years.

We are considering a RRS, probably the Autobiography with the V6 engine. We currently have a Porsche on order, has been on order for 6 months, been told we are unlikely to get until Q1 2016, getting bored with that.

Firstly, we had really, really bad experience with local dealers throughout the purchase and 3 years of ownership of the Disco. Don't want to start with a load of negatives, but initial experience on this purchase is not looking good. So far I have spoken to one dealer who never called back, chased up and left messages. My wife has spoken to a second who really did not want to take her seriously or seemed to have any product knowledge. We've had a more positive experience today with another dealer.

So a few questions:

1. We are in Windsor, so a few dealers to choose from round here, happy to travel too, can anyone recommend a dealer one with decent after sales service and ideally name a sales person who has decent product knowledge?

2. What do we need to be aware of ordering in the near future (anything new on the horizon - rumors or fact, googling came up blank)

3. How realistic are lead times ordering about now, been told we can expect one before year end

4. What sort of deals are available at the moment?

5. Must have options? Towing is important to us, so the surround camera option seems sensible

Thanks - looking forward to becoming a part of this community!

Hi Guys

Thanks for the responses.

All above on my list, apart from the V8 option. £7k, not sure about it. Had the 3l in the Disco and that was ample. Not after anything fast, just want to tow my race cars around Europe in comfort. Unless anyone has any other reasons for the V8?

DrRob - can't IM yet, need more posts!

The cars don't weigh much, with trailer and spare wheels lightest is < 1000kg, heaviest is about 1500kg.

My TDV8 tows our 2.5 tonne horse trailer as if it wasn't there. You people with your lightweight tin tents... Whistle

Being serious, with the new SDV6 in RRS2 being so pokey I doubt the SDV8 is worth the added weight and fuel consumption. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Welcome aboard. I bought my car from Guy Salmon Thames Ditton but my salesman has unfortunately left and not much can be said for the current lot...I didn't really have a great experience when looking at Sports at Hunters Guildford either. Maybe it's different now. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.

TDV8 isn't worth it IMO...you don't get much extra from the extra cash, if I were wanting a more powerful engine I'd opt for the 5.0L. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Gone but not forgotten:
2014 RRS2 SDV6 HSE in Loire Blue
2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE in Santorini Black

I think the key these days is to phone ahead and book a salesman's time out for a specific period. I did that with Gary@Guildlford and he spent nearly 2 hours with us with no interruptions etc. At Guy Salmon in Pompey all the sales guys are now on the first floor and not in the showroom. They have to be be called down etc. Bizarre. Visitor from fullfatrr.com
