Recent Turbo Issues

Hi Guys,

After some advice if poss, my TDV6 RRS has recently been suffering with the dreaded "limp mode" fault and after various resets and checks we decided to have the turbo replaced. We collected the car yesterday and I drove it home. Power delivery top end seems a lot better but the car is hesitant to change down gear when I "stick the boot down" - when it does change down there still seems to be lots of smoke generated (more than what I would consider to be the norm) and the response at lower speeds generally seems very sluggish. It has been re-mapped EGR's blanked, and just does not seem as good as it was when we first had these carried out.
Should we be looking at anything else? Is it worth getting the gearbox flushed? Any suggestions most welcome. Out and About

I have similar symptoms but I haven't replaced the turbo.

I'm having a gearbox flush and a hard reset which I hope will resolve the gear change issues.

I find I get my black smoke at 3000rpm. I have had a re-map which apparently increases the smoke, but I feel there's more than there should be. 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Iv'e heard that black smoke is a turbo problem, and if not sorted quickly could lead to engine seizure Big Cry itisme

Black smoke is overfuelling, be it too much fuel, or not enough air.

A remap will cause a little extra smoke, but it should not be excessive

Can be, but there are plenty of other causes such as a split turbo hose, leaking intercooler, faulty MAF meter, injector issues, and of course, the old favourite - EGRs. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

• Turbo Hose replaced (Left Hand side) with silicone hose. Haven't attempted the R/H side yet as that looked a bit more fiddly!
• MAF was replaced end of last year
• EGR's blanked end of last year.

Im presuming then that I'd be looking at over fuelling, which is pointing to a crappy re-map? 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

I'm assuming you're referring to that as looking at the front of the vehicle (Left and right hand sides are normally referred to as in the direction of travel)? Question

Possibly, but I'd still be doing some further investiagtion (the other two turbo hoses, intercooler, turbo/turbo actuator, injector values etc.) before concluding that, unless you have particular reason to be suspicious of the map? Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I have not had any of the hoses looked at, the exchange turbo has gotten rid of the "limp home" issue, although today was particularly bad, if rolling up to a roundabout or junction and don't quite stop put the foot down to keep going and it seems to be an age for anything to happen then it picks up and kicks a cloud of black smoke out of the back... And seems to be getting worse..! Out and About

Hi guys, I still seem to be having the same "low end" power loss and smoke issues. Any suggestions? Maybe the dreaded crossover pipe? Any suggestions most welcome.
Thanks in advance. Out and About

I'd be looking at EGR issues before the crossover pipe Thumbs Up
