I'm posting here to try to solve a mystery, for all of you RR detectives

My car has a distinct fresh diesel smell when you have driven it and now I am getting some drips on my drive when it's parked.
I washed the drips off with washing powder and hot water and they have fadad a lot, which leads me to think it's more likely diesel than oil.
The drips are from the centre front of the car, (I suppose the lowest point).
The smell is from drivers side front.


Any guidance appreciated,

Could only be leaking from the fuel filter area, as that is where it is, I would get it checked asap, as the O ring seal sometimes breaks up, I had the complete unit replaced on mine, I think it was less than £40, and that included a filter 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater )))

Thanks, I will take to my local garage and not bother with main stealers, as it sounds like it may possibly be a cheap fix (fingers crossed).

By far the most common cause is rodents nibbling the plastic elbow on the top of the tank. There are numerous examples, pictures and repairs on the D3 / D4 forum.

def not rodents, my car lives outdoors and is driven daily.

Well it wasn't roland rat, Charlie cockaroachy or even mikey mouse, it turns out it was a leaking seal on a leak off pipe.

My garage has advised that it is not a major job but awkward, i.e. 1 1/2 hours labour plus parts.

Does this sound familiar, should I replace more than one of them or is this not required?
