Took the RR Sport for a day offloading in the Yorkshire Dales on saturday, with Yorkshire 4x4. We had a really great day - a nice mixed group, from expedition spec Land Rovers through to a Freelander that was hugely capable (standard apart from 40mm raied suspension and AT tyres).

Looks superb, thank you for sharing Are you running 40 or 45 profile general ATs on your 20" wheels? 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I'm running the 40's but to be honest the rims are pretty chewed up with all the rocks, hence looking at some 18" wheels |

Looks like a great day out. Well done for using your Sport's abilities once in a while! It's always good to show people how effective our "footballer's car" is off road. Nothing like showing a Defender how to do it to make your day even better.

Will the 2011 take an 18in rim over the brakes? I use 55-profile Grabber AT on 19s on my TDV8 and the rims are protected reasonably well. If you don't intend going anywhere too muddy, I understand from Disco3 that the Pirelli ATR is now "LR approved" (it's in 255/55/19 so not an official RRS size). This handles rocky stuff very well as it's got quite tough sidewalls and would have been at home on the tracks seen in your piccies. The Grabber AT is a good AT tyre, of course, but there are question marks about its ability to absorb punishment in rocky situations. Having said that, my Grabber ATs have got a fair few surface grazes/cuts on them and are going strong. (That'll be a blow out for me tomorrow having said that! ) Not sure whether to go back to the ATR (had them before and they were a good tyre), stick with the Grabber or try the Duratrac. Thinking at this point is ATR but I quite like the idea of something that will handle muddy conditions in winter. Decisions, decisions... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I'm not 100% certain of fit - I need to do a bit more research! I've seen some 18's online that say they fit a 2011 Sport though, apart from Brembo models which I don't think my TDV6 has?

The Duratracs are a great looking tyre, and reports on the disco3 site say they are awesome mud pluggers and very quiet too for such aggressive rubber. 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Yes, they do get good reviews. My sensible head says "go ATR" because I do a lot of tarmac miles at the moment. My "man maths" head says "go Duratrac" because I do go muddy places during the winter and I want decent winter performance too. The Duratrac is a winter tyre in all but name - LR, apparently, didn't want the winter logo on the 255/55/19 tyre that the Disco uses. The rest of the range is snowflake marked I believe.

After much deliberation I've decided to go for the Compomotive PD1881 18" wheels with Cooper AT3 tyres at 265/60/18.

Massive respect for using the RRS properly...I must admit I'm too scared to damage mine.

May I ask what tyre pressures you were operating at. I have the same tyres / spec on my RRS and do quite a bit of driving on dirt roads. The theory here is to drop pressures when off the bitumen, but with such low profiles (275 / 40 /20) I'm not so sure.
