Newbie RRS question

Hi

I'm new to the RRS and the forum, so hello!

I wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction? I have a 55 HSE with Sat Nav but no built in Bluetooth and after reading the various threads on here am considering upgrading to a mObridge and adding GVIF - so my questions are:

Am I mad? is there a better solution to give me Bluetooth phone and audio streaming capability?

I have no head rest screens and am not really interested in having them, other than TV what else have other people added with the GVIF?

Is there anyone in the Manchester or close area who can install all this?

Thanks for your help guys

Paul

i can install GVIF's. Thumbs Up

Blutooth can be retro fitted, as can the Audio Connectivity Module, but you're looking at £600ish.

Fitting a GVIF wont give you BT phone connectivity though. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks Bodsy

I have to admit that I was secretly hoping you would reply, but didn't want to call you out specifically due to my newbie status!

So, am I right in thinking that the mObridge give you the Bluetooth function for the phone but not the streaming?

With the GVIF I am interested in the digital tv.

What is your recommendation then if I want to end up with the following:

Bluetooth hands free (I use Nokia Lumia phones and am unlikely to change)
Bluetooth audio streaming
TV capability
A bit of future-proofing
All as close to factory look as possible?

It may be better to go for a full double din instead I suppose but then it may render the LR Sat Nav a bit redundant which would be a bit of a shame.

Thanks mate Bow down

oh also wouldn't mind the reversing camera, forgot to add that!

Has anyone else made these type of additions? would you recommend?

I've asked mObridge if their kit does audio streaming as well as the Phone PTI. The last time I looked into this, they had plans to do both, but it was more complicated than other vehicles, so it was BT phone integration only.
Thier website does say it will stream BT Audio though... perhaps its just the physically connected ipods they are having problems with.

Although for the £499 price they charge (supply only and without the steering wheel switches you need), I can fit a genuine LandRover BT Phone kit for less than that (with steering wheel switch), but it wouldn't have BT Streaming for music.
The Landrover Audio Connectivity module will charge and connect to your iphone, but as you are Nokia, that wont really help.

GVIF will allow you to have whatever video connected systems you want. i.e. Playstation, TV, Media player (although many decent TV modules will provide Media capability too). You can connect with a cable from your phone to the GVIF for cabled streaming.
You could also have Reverse camera capability with the GVIF module.

You can also go the double din new head unit, some tinkering to do with the existing radio to keep the satnav working. I installed a Pioneer DAB70 system in a Discovery last week, it takes a bit of time, but it has Phone, SatNav, DAB, Media Player etc etc.
Doesn't quite look OEM as the new surround is a slightly darker colour and it certainly wasn't cheap to do, but met the needs of the customer.

So there's many different directions you can go in, depends on exactly what you want and how much you want to budget for the parts and how much of it you can do yourself.

I'll drop you an email, might be best to talk the options through. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
