Wireless Modems..

Am going to go out and buy a wireless modem tommorow..
Just been having a look on t'ol net and its soo bloody confusing..
I don't know anything about them, what should i be looking for?

MBps the speed indicator? higher the better right?
Not looking at spending mega bucks, just £80 or so..

Argos are doing a BT one with what looks like free car for desktop and another free card for a laptop worth £30 on their own normally, all for a bargain £80.. or is the modem Censored , thats why they are offering them out?

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/part...Modems.htm

What do u guys use, if you've gone wireless, and what would you reccomend?
Light internet use only really, one laptop to move around the house, and one desktop.. need cards for each i think..

Thanks in advance for any tips or hints..

When you say wireless modem, do you mean the wireless broadband router? i.e. you want to connect it to your ADSL line and then have other laptops/PCs use it wirelessly?

Yes to the above.. i want to connect the router to the main line, then have my desktop in my room, connected wirelessly and a desktop for use downstairs/garden etc.. (have a horrid wire running across the house at the moment, as we were meant to have another extension fitted in my room, but never bothered!)

Right.... today, always go for something that is marked 802.11g and you might want to look for ADSL2+ markings on it too. That means it'll support the next wave of broadband product.

Anything from Netgear or Linksys is worth getting in my experience. You can get deals these days where they'll throw in a couple of wireless NICs too, for your laptop and/or PC.
