Front windscreen trim

Afternoon all, has this happened to anyone? driving along the motorway and an almighty banging starts coming from the roof?? pulls over, gets out and the trim along the top of the windscreen is only just holding on at one side (and was flapping about when driving, hence the noise) slid it back on and drove home slowly!! So, dealers are now closed today, so my question, a bit of silicone along the trim a stick it back in semi-permanent, or be fleeced by the dealer on Monday for (I imagine) similar job? thoughts?

Very common if a windscreen has been replaced but no new clips fitted to the trim when refitted. Go to a dealer for a few clips to secure it permanently, not expensive.

Or a trip to the folks that replaced the screen and ask them to now re-do the job properly! Unless of course the dealership replaced the screen in which case you are heading there for a visit on Monday morning. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

This happened on my RRS TDV8 MY08 last month shortly after purchase. Driving along and suddenly started to hear banging on roof. Turns out that the top trim of the windscreen has detached about 75% across the top of the windscreen.

Back to main dealer under warranty. They had to remove the windscreen to replace offending trim strip and fix.

Just resurrecting an old thread, my windscreen trim finally came off today, has been flapping about for a few weeks and been putting it back in

I was at the dealers having a service but they told me the only fix is to have a new windscreen ? I cant just buy the trim and stick it back in myself

Has anyone got any recent experience of this ?

...maybe I just need to aquire some windscreen chips ! cheers

You can by a new trim, apply a bead of sealant/adhesive & slide it onto the top of the windscreen without having to remove the glass. The adhesive windscreen fitters use is best for it & im sure a windscreen fitter would do it for a small fee! Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic 5.0 Supercharged

Hi, had this on mine, twice. I found the culprit in the end.
Lazy car washers. They tried to remove dead flies and other stuff with the pressure wash lance.
Get right up close and the water jet breaks the seal, after a while it flips off at high speed.
Hope that helps.

Used two part epoxy to stick it back.

Cheers.
