EPB and healthcheck

Hi all

I had a issue with my EPB (screeching sound) and also the lag between pressing the gas and the RRS actually taking off (was assuming this may be EGR valve related).

As under warranty took it down to Stratstone and they did a healthcheck and this is what was flagged:

1. Excessive oil leak visible from underside - needing further investigation (1hr)(but hopefully covered under warranty)
2. excessive play in both rear tie rods
3. excessive play in N/S/F lower arm ball joint and both lower arm trailing bushes (recommended arms replaced)
4. Hole in intercooler pipe - recommend all flexible pipes renewed as all hoses starting to perish
5. EPB - they need to clean and the see if issue is still there.

Not sure how much will be covered under warranty - hopefully at least 1 and 4. I have asked him to also ask about 2&3 on the off chance they will but doubt it. Also they are charging £270 to clean the EPB - but if module needs replacing it will be covered by warranty. I don't think I will use Stratsone for the non-warranty work.

Shocked

Any thoughts on costs of 2-5 if not covered? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

£270 to clean and adjust the EPB! so thats labour only, no parts at all.
I bet they don't copperslip the rubbing points either.

That's exactly the reason why I wrote the Brake Bible! Grrr! Bodsys Brake Bible

Suggest you replace the intercooler pipes with silicone ones such as these: http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/ba2341-bl...6726-p.asp Wink

£270 is a rip off for the EPB adjustment. It's likely that, if it hasn't been allowed to scream too much, that's all it needs. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thanks for the response guys. Thumbs Up

Don't plan on using them for non-warranty work. Hopefully if 2,3 and 4 are covered I will just need to sort out the EPB.

May even give it a go myself (with the help of the brake bible) Smile

When I bought mine, it was 6 months old, and I don't think the previous owner (Landrover Employee) ever used the EPB it was squealing like a pig, because I used it, it took about a week to stop, as I use it all the time, never been an issue since MY 13 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition

Thanks all.

Had a call back re the oil leak and seems to be from the intercooler Confused

Anyway hopefully this will be covered by the warranty - will find out tomorrow.

with the rest of the issues apparently the won't be covered at the moment cos they are classified as amber and dont need immediate attention Shocked . Have been told that they may be red by the time my service comes around (3 weeks) and then they may be able to run them through? Is that true? or can I call LR warranty directly as it seems silly seeing we know they will need doing soon.

EPB will probably get done elsewhere or do it myself.

Stratstone have come back on the leak and say it's from the intercooler pipe. They want £813 to replace. Shocked

As the pipes below include the intercooler pipe so I'll get it done at my local

What a rip off. Anyone know how big a job it will be?

Thanks.

Which pipe is it? The big one (the most common one to fail) is a 10 minute, yes, 10 minute job! Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

So picked up car from Stratstone and had to pay for investigation work- Sad

I asked why it was so expensive to replace the intercooler pipe(£813) and told because its takes quite a bit of time and is not as easy as it sounds Confused Still don't believe its that expensive.

Also asked how much for the service which is due in a few weeks - quoted £1468.97 Shocked Shocked Shocked Big Cry

So apparently the following needs to be done:
Plug - oil drain
Filter - oil
Filter - odour and particles
Kit - Fuel filter element
washer
filter (non Haz)
Pan - transmission oil
castrol 05/30 engine oil
transfer box fluid shell TF0753
Differential oil BOT 720
Transmission fluid
Differential oil castrol SAF x0
anti freeze
Plus 5 hours labour

Is that right??

Any way spoken to a local inde Les Paul and seeing what they will charge for service and intercooler pipe.

Seriously, you need to go elsewhere. They are well and truly set on ripping you off.

Most of that service is pretty standard. For the transmission you be much better off having a full flush done. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
