Does it do the same thing with your spare fob? |

Yes it does, my first thought was that the fob batteries needed replacing, but I've done that with no success ? |

When you lock the vehicle do you get a double beep? Also do any of the doors lock or is it just one that doesnt (usually drivers door)? |

The car has never done a double beep, it always sets silently, the door lock solenoids can be heard closing once and the mirrors fold inwards. At the present time the solenoids can be heard clicking more than once but none of the doors actually seem to lock, the mirrors do not fold in but the alarm does set and if you open a door the alarm goes off. Occasionally however it does seem to work correctly ! |

I had a similar problem on my 2010 sport last month. When pressing the lock you could hear the solenoids and the power mirrors didnt fold in, however all the doors did lock apart from the drivers door, which when opened started the alarm. Turned out to be a sensor in the latch so had to replace the complete latch which was £330 for a latch, labour and diagnostics. With yours however sounds like a plug in job to check for a ground to earth fault or similar, the indy i took mine to have seen lots with various locking problems apparently |

That sounds about right, I was talking it over with a friend last night and came up with the thought that even when it is working correctly the car will not lock if there is a door partly open, so maybe one of the sensors is starting to fail, then the car will not lock as the CPU believes the doors are not all fully closed. Your comment pretty much confirms this. Thanks for the input ! |

Sorry for the delay in posting this, but I did take my car to my local Land Rover Independent repair garage, Holgate in Orrell. It was a fault within the latch, this was confirmed by the diagnostics. Andy says he has done a few recently and can get it done in an hour now. New LR latch, diagnostics, labour and VAT = £170.

I also have a locking problem. When we use our main fob all works well. When we use the spare or 2nd key fob all works well but after about 10mins the alarm sounds.

Maybe not relevant here, but there was an update article from LR that if changing batteries, they must be brand new from unopened stock, and not use one from a working handset.
