Could somebody please identify this leak? Power steering reservoir has dropped about an inch below minimum over the last month.

Not sure the valve is a serviceable item. The transducer is but that's an electronic item on the rack that controls the valve.

If it's leaking then I suppose it could cause the notchy steering because the moment it leaks will result in less power steering effect. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I managed to get it looked at by a garage this afternoon.... they reckon the UJ is causing the notchy and stiff steering and needs replacing which doesn't surprise me.

My steering rack was replaced under warranty and the price noted on the paperwork is £1173. That is excl VAT but I assume includes labour. There was a surcharge on the part - presumably it's an exchangeable unit. That was at a main dealer.

Bit of good news...The leak has been fixed and all it cost was £70! New o rings to the pipes that enter the servo valve and refilled the power steering fluid. Also cleaned and greased the steering UJ - he didn't think the UJ needed replacing as he thought it was in good condition.

Excellent news. I wasn't sure the rack was serviceable but it obviously is in part. A great outcome. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I had a new power steering pump fitted under warranty a few weeks ago. I think it's a good couple of hours' work. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
