Tape it to the other key and go for a long drive. |

I understand you mean with the dead one in the lock and the working one taped to it to ok the electronics, right?

Well how is the dead one going to recharge if it is not connected via the blade?

They do indeed use the hall effect to charge. |

If you have an electric toothbrush.. put the toothbrush on charge and rest the key against it / the charging base.. I've found this worked for my old BMW E46 key in the past for a similar reason.
