My jobs for today were front and rear diff oils and the supercharger oil change.
The front and rear diff oils were quite dirty and due for a change.
So i started to remove the oil from the supercharger and was surprised at the colour of the oil which shows it has degraded quite a bit, as can be seen in the pic

Remove the filler plug which is a bit tight in space, use a syringe with small tube, which is included in the kit, and insert it into the filler plug hole, twist it around until the tube goes further into the hole and draw the oil out, then refill with fresh oil till it spills, I got my kit from Ebay -

Crikey... didn't even know the Supercharger had it's own oil supply so thanks for posting - I'll be doing this asap given mine is coming up to 100k miles! Did you follow some sort of guide to do this? Never read anything about doing this before...

The filler plug is quite small and fiddly to get out, getting the oil out is a bit of a pain too but when you get the small pipe in to the right bit you can sook the oil out with the supplied syringe no probs  2006 4.2 Supercharged Buckingham blue

Thanks - I'll have to do a bit of research - don't even know where the supercharger is or what it looks like!

I finally got around to doing this job at the weekend and am so glad I did. The old oil was pretty appalling to be honest, looked like oxtail soup and smelled pretty bad too. For reference my RRS has done 99,400 miles and they recommend replacing the oil every 50,000...

I wouldn't say it was a difficult job, but definitely one of those fiddly annoying ones that tests your patience a bit.

I did take some pics to help anyone else that wants to give it a go... my first problem was finding the drain plug. The instructions are useless as they neglect to tell you that you need to remove the engine cover and also the air intake before you can access it. My second problem was that you need an imperial 3/16" Allen key to undo the plug... mine are all metric - Halfords don't stock imperial ones either so I had to order one off Amazon. The final issue was basically that it's in a tight spot and it's a bit of struggle to get your hands in there, never mind turn the allen key. I stuffed a paper towel in the gaps around the supercharger to prevent the drain plug disappearing into the abyss if i dropped it... which I did a couple of times.

I wonder if the 2010+ 5.0 engines need the same type of maintenance on their superchargers.....

Does this need to be done when doing an ordinary service such as oils/filters?

Great pics but...I`m out..no patience for that. Mine`s due a service in 3 weeks (probably get it done next month) so I`ll mention it then  Steve.
