Talk about a bad day..
My dad went to the bank.. rings me after 10 mins and says,, got a puncture, come and get me..
instead as he was like 1 min away from a guy i know who owns a tire replacement fitting centre.. i had him pick him up instead and took the A8 in.

Basically 20" Pirelli Rosso PZeros' brand bloody new as well!! front wheel, my dad rubbed it up the kerb and slashed the side wall..

Looking like costing £250 minimum at mates rates.. well small markup anyway! am gutted, and am not even paying for them...
Someone told me recently u could get tyre insurance.. anyone know anything about that?

These are the same prices [ roughly ] we have to pay for 20" tyres for the sport. I paid £217 from dealer as much better than my mate could do who is a director of Brittania Tyres

Just looked at Tyre insurance.. £50.00 from RAC for up to £250 per claim.. you can claim up to 4 per year..
seems worthwhile to me!!

Think we should all hunt around and see whether this is cheap or not.. if RAC can offer £50 price for these, am sure somewhere else could offer it for cheaper!!

Thats quite worrying in itself!!

What you need is Insurance to cover your Insurance loopholes

"Tyre Insurance will protect you in the event of sustaining damage to any of the tyres fitted to your vehicle at the inception of the cover, either accidental or malicious.

The cover includes the cost of replacement or repair, including valve and balance, up to £250.00 per claim as long as the tyre tread depth is above the legal limit at the time of the claim"

So what if all ur tyres were slashed.. so basically, they would give you £250 and let you pay the other £750 off on ur own..? assuming each tyre costs £250 each..

So all in all it's  RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

Who says your normal insurance policy doesn't cover tyres? Mine does - the only reason you wouldn't use it to replace a single tyre is that your excess would be as much as purchasing the tyre anyway, so not much point. But in the case of all four tyres being slashed/damaged - it would be cheaper to pay the £250 excess instead of the ~£1k it would cost to replace them all.

Well not really..i think we're going to take this insurance out.
If we had of had it, we would have saved the money immediately on this incident. Tyre is coming in at £270, so thats a £270 hit for my dad right away. If we had of had the insurance, we could of claimed and it would only cost £20..

How often have you had all your tyres maliciously slashed!?

Fair point, Kam... so the excess on the tyre policy is £20? Didn't realise that - that makes more sense, I suppose. I guess with all insurance policies, whatever they're for, you hope never to have to claim. I wonder how quickly it all works in reality... if your tyre's gone, you need to get it replaced asap.

I took out that tyre insurance a few years ago and never needed it. What a waste of money that was.

However I have bought Gap insurance this morning and that is worth it , having needed it once before. £25K of cover for £330. Prob not the cheapest, but was the only company that would allow me to buy it up to 6 months after purchase. So done with 10 days to spare. TDV6 - gone

Retrospectively though, like I said above... all insurance policies hopefully end up being wastes of money Unless you happen to be VA of course, then they come in very handy.
